Holiday Savings from Build-A-Bear

As the holidays approach the excitement within our home continues to build.  Everyone is looking forward to Christmas, exchanging gifts, and preparing for little Baby Ellie to arrive.  When we were waiting for Alexander to arrive in 2008, Alex, Zack, Libby and I thought it would be a great idea to head to our local Build-A-Bear and create something special to give Alexander when he was born.  Not only did we personally create Dino for Alexander, but he also has a piece of each of us inside of him as we all put a heart in him with a kiss!
This is Alexander with his beloved Dino. My little man takes Dino everywhere and will NOT go to bed without him!!

We are currently planning a trip to Build-A-Bear for next weekend to bring a new friend to life to present to Ellie when she is born.

The great thing is that now  through December 18th you can purchase any animal PLUS any outfit for just $24.99.  Needless to say, this is definitely an offer we will be taking advantage of because I like to stretch my hard earned Bear Bucks as far as I can!

In addition to this great savings promotion, thanks to our friends at Build-A-Bear Workshop, your family has a direct line to Santa and his little helpers!  By visiting http://play.buildabear.com/, your child can create their own wish list with one of Santa’s elves and tell them what they want for Christmas!  *Parental agreement is needed for all children under 13.

So, what are you waiting for?  Get over to your local Build-A-Bear and start saving today!  Plus don’t forget to watch for Baby Ellie updates and pictures after she arrives and is presented with her first friend from Build-A-Bear and our family!

Disclosure: I was entered for a chance to win a Build-A-Bear Workshop gift card in exchange for this post.  No monetary exchange took place. All opinions are my own

SpongeBob’s Surf & Skate Roadtrip

Last Friday night, after the Alex departed to work for his mandatory overtime shift, I broke out the newest video game in our XBOX360 Kinect collection, SpongeBob’s Surf & Skate Roadtrip.

Let’s just say, the kids had a blast!
Even Zack was surfing and skating and he’s on crutches!!

The little Alexander had a hard time trying to navigate things but still had lots of fun trying!

If you’re looking for a new game to add to your family’s collection, we highly recommend SpongeBob’s Surf & Skate Roadtrip for the XBOX360 Kinect.

Check out the preview of the game below.

Recurring Dream

I keep having this recurring dream.
It began these last few weeks as I near the end of my pregnancy.
I keep dreaming that in the middle of the night, when the Alex is off at work that my water breaks.
I have never had my water break at home and the only time it really broke on it’s own without the help of my pushing was when I was already at the hospital preparing to be induced with Zack. I have never had to have my bag of water broken by the doctor or nurse.
This time it is really freaking me out.
I am absolutely terrified that my water will break at home and I will not make it to the hospital in time to have Ellie.
You see, I tend to labor rapidly.
My last labor, with Alexander, I hit 10 centimeters, gave a little push in which my water broke and he came out all at once….still in the fetal position.
What worries me even more about my water breaking at home is the fact that Ellie still seems to be in the breech position. I am hoping to find out if she is for sure at our appointment of Friday. For me, it does not feel like her position has changed based on the kicks and punches I feel.
Ellie isn’t making this fear go away either.
The way she moves around and the amount of pressure I feel in my pelvis all the time I am certain my water will break at home, in the middle of the night and I will have to call and wake my parents up to have one of them come get the kids and the other take me to the hospital.
The last thing I want is to have to deliver this little lady in my living room or worse, en route to the hospital!
Keep your fingers crossed for a good update after our appointment Friday and pray she has flipped!!!

Host a Chex Party Mix-change with #Giveaway – Ends 12/22/11

With the Holiday season approaching rather quickly, I know there are a lot of people out there making delicious holiday treats, hosting cooking exchanges and preparing for the holiday. Since we don’t have a lot of extra time right now to prepare holiday treats and sweets while we are preparing for the arrival of our latest bundle of joy, we decided to participate in a Chex Party Mix-change instead.

We spent a large portion of last evening making yummy Chex snacks to share with our friends and family during the holidays.

First we started with a simple Chex Mix with the ingredients as follows:

3 cups Corn Chex® cereal
3 cups Rice Chex® cereal
3 cups Wheat Chex® cereal
1 cup honey roasted peanuts
1 cup bite-size pretzels
1 cup garlic-flavor bite-size bagel chips
6 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder

We melted the butter in a microwave safe dish and then mixed all of the ingredients together by shaking in a large paper grocery bag.

Once everything was mixed together, we spread it out on a cookie sheet and baked at 250* for 1 hour while mixing it up every 15 minutes.

It turned out soooo good, I actually like it more than the stuff you get in a bag at the store! We also made a big batch of Chex Muddy Buddies too and have been looking at other recipes that we plan to make. Chex has a huge assortment of recipes to fit everyone’s needs including Gluten Free.

With several Chex Party Mix recipes that can be made in just 15 minutes and Sam’s Club stores providing you with everything needed to host a fabulous party, there’s no excuse to not call on family and friends for a celebration.

The great news is we are giving one lucky reader of The Megalomaniac Mommy a chance to have their own Chex Party Mix-change thanks to the folks at Sam’s Club, Chex Party Mix, General Mills and MyBlogSpark.  The lucky winner will receive one $25 Sam’s Club gift card and one box of Chex cereal.

Sleepless Nights

Over the last few weeks, I have had the unfortunate experience of numerous sleepless nights…..and baby isn’t even here yet!
Between Baby Ellie being extremely active, the contractions, the pain in my pelvis and the whole being oddly shaped at the moment and finding it impossible to find a comfortable position to sleep in I am lucky if I am clocking 3 hours of actual sleep each night.
I also tend to sleep better when the Alex is home because then I can use his body to get comfortable too. The bad part of that is that I am lucky if I get to sleep next to him 2 nights a week given his work schedule.
Needless to say….I am tired.
24/7.
Did I mention that the heartburn and the acid reflux doesn’t help things either?

I am looking forward to this pregnancy coming to an end soon.
I find it much more rewarding to lose sleep because I am up snuggling my little one, feeding her or changing her diaper.

As things get closer to the end I am getting more and more excited to meet her.
And I am not alone.
All of the kids are super excited as well.

Alexander cannot wait to be a big brother and was really excited to try on his big brother shirt I made him tonight. He is looking forward to actually kissing and hugging Ellie and not my belly anymore.

This weekend, everyone in the family had a chance to have a little belly time with Ellie. I am happy to report that she successfully punched/kicked each of them and she did it quite well.
This little lady packs quite the bunch.

Although I have been experiencing all of these sleepless nights, I have been taking advantage of it. I have had the pleasure of watching quite a few movies without anyone interrupting me.
I have scratched The Switch, Due Date, Friends with Benefits, and now onto Going the Distance. I have also managed to clear everything off of the DVR that I have been letting add up.
Oh and tonight I had the chance to FINALLY color my hair and make all of the gray go away.
Here’s hoping that tomorrow night I have the time to straighten my hair!
