Halloween Events & Fun

I love this time of year!  October happens to be my very favorite month and it also happens to include Halloween. Here we are, just a few weeks away and the Halloween events around the country are in full swing.  We don’t have a lot on our agenda aside from Trick or Treating next week but I am hoping that we can squeeze in at least on other Halloween event.

Happy Halloween

With such a large family, we like to look for inexpensive and free events to attend and there happen to be all kinds of fun things happening in and around Green Bay leading up to Halloween.

If you are looking for fun Halloween things to do in your town, check your local libray, newspaper and news stations as they are often great resources.

Also, if you have a zoo in your area, check if they host a Zoo Boo event or check local churches for Trunk or Treat events as well. You can also check if your local YMCA hosts a fun Halloween event.

What are your favorite things to do for Halloween?

Get Ready for Skylander’s Day at GameStop – June 27th

If you are a long time reader of this site, then you know that since he was just shy of 3 years old, Alexander has been a diehard Power Ranger fan. Everything he did involved Power Rangers and I thought that his obsession would never end.

And then it did.

Just before Christmas 2014, Alexander decided he was ready to move on and asked Santa for Skylanders Trap Team and boy oh boy did Santa deliver.

Not only did Alexander get Skylanders Trap Team for the Xbox One, he also got it to go with the new iPad mini that Santa brought him too!!

Since Christmas, a lot has changed around here. We’ve bought all kinds of Skylanders, purchased Skylanders shirts, pajamas, hats and we’ve even thrown a Skylanders themed birthday party.

Honestly, our lives have changed now that Alexander loves Skylanders. A friend of mine shared on Facebook that he had located the Kaos trap at the GameStop in our local mall and minutes later my husband was on the phone calling to see if they had any left and having them hold on to the last one as he raced to the mall to get it.

Yeah, we are now THOSE parents.

I enjoy watching Alexander play Skylanders because it’s awesome to watch him get so excited when he beats a level or he talks about what he is doing. He’s also very proud of his growning Skylanders collection.

Needless to say he’s looking forward to the new Skylanders game coming out later this year.

Celebrate Skylander’s Day

GameStop has decided that Skylanders and the fans deserve their own day and invite you to celebrate Skylander’s Day on Saturday, June 27th 2015. Be sure to stop in at your local GameStop and check out all of the awesome deals on Skylander’s Day and you can even pre-order Skylanders Superchargers!!

Interactive Fun with 3D Wall charts from Popar

As you have seen in previous posts, we have become big fans of the 3D interactive books and puzzles from Popar Toys. Recently we were given the opportunity to check out their 3D wall charts and these things are just as cool, if not cooler than the books and puzzles.

Just like Popar’s other interactive toys, all you needs is tablet or other app based mobile device to bring the wall chart to life and get the most out of it.

Using your device, just hold it over different areas of the map to learn all kinds of fun facts!

Popar Toys offers 3D interactive wall charts of the world, U.S. capitals, presidents, the solar system and so much more! Be sure to check them all out!

Since the wall charts are rather large, we decided to donate ours to our local elementary school for the kids to use with their classroom iPads and the teachers are so happy!

You can get your own interactive wall chart for $29.95

The Reality of Having a Teen Driver

I’m not going to lie, having a kid that drives now has been pretty great. When Zack got his license back in February, I didn’t realize just how much of an asset it would be to me and Alex.

Now that he drives, he is able to get himself and his sister to school, pick up Alexander as needed and this summer, he’ll be driving the 3 of them to summer school every morning for me too so I don’t have to pack everyone up to go.

Yes, when he first got his license I was crazy nervous but now, almost 4 months later, I am happy to report that my nerves are a lot better. He’s a great driver, takes great care of his car, does routine maintenance on it and he’s even taken some shop classes at school so he can do even more repairs if need be.

Zack doesn’t have the best car but the good thing is that it runs, it is in one piece and it is paid for. Right now he’s working as much as he can to put money away for college and for a new (to him) car while he also works to restore his old pickup truck with my dad.

Needless to say, it rocks having him as another driver in the house. Next up….Libby starts drivers ed in July….
