The road to getting pregnant

By: Anne Youngercomment

Now that I am pregnant with baby number 4, I have started to look at things through a whole new perspective.
Both the Alex and I have friends that were not as lucky as we were to conceive naturally.
Actually, quite a few of our friends have only been lucky enough to start a family thanks to the help of a fertility doctor.
After thinking about it, if I were in someone else’s shoes and not able to get pregnant naturally, I would do everything in my power to get there.
In 2003, I was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome) during a week long hospital stay and was told that I would be lucky if I ever conceived again.
I never followed up on that diagnosis but am very thankful that doctor was wrong.
When we decided to start a family together and were trying to get pregnant with Alexander, I’ll admit, I was worried in the beginning that it was taking so long. But after nearly 5 months of trying we finally had a positive result.
This time around, when we made the decision to add one more little one to the clan, I was more worried that my weight would be the factor that would keep us from conceiving.
Nope.
Within 2 months of trying, we got that positive result once again and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Baby Ellie!
