Back to School

Back in the beginning of April, I returned to school to pursue my BS in Communications with a concentration in Sales & Marketing.

This week, I am working hard on my final week of my first course, Intro to Communications.

This time around, my classes are only 5 weeks long, whereas during my AA program they were 9.  Also, for my BS program we work on learning teams so it has made the workload lighter and the class has flown by.

I am looking forward to this first class coming to a close and enjoying the week long break I will be giving myself in between all of my classes this time around.  After 2 years with very little for breaks between classes for my AA, I learned my lesson and will be taking the breaks to make sure I am getting my much needed family time as well.

So, wish me luck on this new journey and keep your fingers crossed that this crazy finals week that I am currently going through goes off without a hitch!

Thanks!

Pay It Forward

My very dear and lifelong friend Natalie is currently facing a bit of trouble. She is 4.5 months away from finally graduating from college with a degree she has worked very, very hard for. Natalie was recently informed by her educational institution via letter over her holiday break that she has exhausted her allotted financial aid funds and will be responsible for covering her last semester of school out of her own pocket and she will need to pay for half of that semester by January 12th. The total for the semester is $3000.

Natalie is a single mom to 4 kids. She works over 40 hours a week in a residential care facility caring for adults with severe disabilities. Not only does she work 40 hours a week, she also goes to school for 30 and is a full time mom as well.

Needless to say, Natalie does not have the funds or the means of producing the money needed to cover the cost of her final semester of school and neither does her family.

Natalie’s brother Bob has started a fundraiser to help raise enough money to help cover the cost of her last semester.

If you can donate anything, even just $1.00 it will help.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you can help!
Pay it forward

I did it.

On May 11th, 2009 I began a new journey.
One that once I completed it, I would be able to call myself a college graduate.
I have reached that time.
As of this past Sunday, April 3rd, 2011 I have completed the 60 required credits to receive my Associate of Arts in Information Technology and Web Design.

Yes.
My file is currently under review with the university and I am waiting for one grade to be finalized ( it will be a B+ in Abnormal Psych ) and then I will be eligible to receive my diploma.
That is a day that I CANNOT wait for.
Did I mention that I already have a pretty frame to put it in?
Cuz, I totally do.
Did I also mention that I completed my degree with a 3.4 GPA?
Cuz I totally did that too!
Which for me….IS HUGE!
I never applied myself in high school so I never knew that I had such potential.
From here, I plan on relaxing for the next few months while the hubby works hard to finish his degree as well.
However, in the Fall, I will become a student once again.
My next goal…..a BS in Digital Design and Animation!
Wish me luck!
P.S. Did I mention how unbelievably proud I am of myself????
