Sleepless Nights

Over the last few weeks, I have had the unfortunate experience of numerous sleepless nights…..and baby isn’t even here yet!
Between Baby Ellie being extremely active, the contractions, the pain in my pelvis and the whole being oddly shaped at the moment and finding it impossible to find a comfortable position to sleep in I am lucky if I am clocking 3 hours of actual sleep each night.
I also tend to sleep better when the Alex is home because then I can use his body to get comfortable too. The bad part of that is that I am lucky if I get to sleep next to him 2 nights a week given his work schedule.
Needless to say….I am tired.
24/7.
Did I mention that the heartburn and the acid reflux doesn’t help things either?

I am looking forward to this pregnancy coming to an end soon.
I find it much more rewarding to lose sleep because I am up snuggling my little one, feeding her or changing her diaper.

As things get closer to the end I am getting more and more excited to meet her.
And I am not alone.
All of the kids are super excited as well.

Alexander cannot wait to be a big brother and was really excited to try on his big brother shirt I made him tonight. He is looking forward to actually kissing and hugging Ellie and not my belly anymore.

This weekend, everyone in the family had a chance to have a little belly time with Ellie. I am happy to report that she successfully punched/kicked each of them and she did it quite well.
This little lady packs quite the bunch.

Although I have been experiencing all of these sleepless nights, I have been taking advantage of it. I have had the pleasure of watching quite a few movies without anyone interrupting me.
I have scratched The Switch, Due Date, Friends with Benefits, and now onto Going the Distance. I have also managed to clear everything off of the DVR that I have been letting add up.
Oh and tonight I had the chance to FINALLY color my hair and make all of the gray go away.
Here’s hoping that tomorrow night I have the time to straighten my hair!

Baby Bean – 35 Weeks

Here we are in the 35th week.
Crazy.
I can’t believe we are getting close to the end and will get to meet our little Baby Ellie soon.
She is a VERY active little lady who doesn’t like to let her mommy get much rest but I’ve been coping with it.
We go to the Dr. on Friday, the 9th and I am hoping that we will have an ultrasound so we can figure our her position.
I cannot tell if she has flipped or if she is still breech.
One minute I think her little feet have moved from my nether region and then BOOM a nice powerful kick!
I’ve also been having A LOT of contractions lately and it has not been fun.
According to the Dr. I am a higher risk for delivering early due to the bleeding I experienced in the first trimester.
It has also become more difficult to move about like a normal person thanks to all of the pain in my pelvis.
I am hoping that I can get an appointment with the physical therapist this week to see if there is something that can be done to help ease the pain a little.
Other than that, all with Ellie has been going well.
I even had the Alex finally snap a belly pic…..I did edit it a little bit to make all of my lovely stretch marks disappear because I didn’t want to gross you out.
So, here she is at 35 weeks!

Baby Bean

Preparing for a new arrival

As the family and I prepare in every way possible for the arrival of Little Miss Ellie I thought now would be a good time to start jotting things down that we need to do, what we’ve done and start planning for the big day.  I also thought that while I am in the process of recording these things here it would be pretty cool if I looked back and shared my first 3 birth stories.  I’ve always had the intention to write them down for each of the kids so they would have them when they were older but the birth story is kind of like the baby book….one of those things that is forgotten over time.

So, first things first.
We have finally started getting things ready around the house.
We haven’t done a lot yet but we definitely made one big improvement.

Yes, Little Miss Ellie officially has a place to sleep once she arrives.
The Alex was kind enough to assemble the new crib we purchased last week.
I am quite pleased with our purchase since Ellie will have a bed that can grow with her.
We have also picked up a few clothing items here and there in addition to a nice supply of diapers.
And that, that is where our prepping ends.
We have yet to….
Get a car seat
Get a stroller
Get a bouncy seat
Get a swing
Buy crib bedding
Buy Wipes
Buy onesies
Pick up breastfeeding supplies
And the list goes on and on and ON!

Oh, but she does have a tutu already!

Help! I’m falling apart!!!

You may have seen me tweet or post on Facebook about the incredible amount of pain I am in with this pregnancy.
The reason for the pain, other than the fact that I am entering my 31st week of pregnancy is that my symphysis pubis is separating.
Yep. My pelvis is basically too darn relaxed and is falling apart.
You can read more about this condition called Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction and discover all of the great things I am experiencing with this pregnancy!
I experienced this with my last pregnancy as well but it was nowhere near as bad as it is this time around and I also had a doctor who kept blaming the pain I was in on a UTI and he kept giving me antibiotics.
This pregnancy, the symptoms are oh, about 100 times worse.
No joke.
There are moments that I am in so much pain that the Alex has to assist me with getting up, walking and doing normal everyday tasks.
It hurts to walk, climb stair,s lift my legs and really do anything that requires any type of movement involving my pelvis.
Oh and there is also the disgusting part where I can hear this clicking noise when I do move.
And lets not forget the pain if you even touch my pubic bone.
Yeah, that makes going to the bathroom tons of fun!
At night I sleep with 6 regular pillows in addition to a huge body pillow in hopes of getting comfortable and resting however sleep is not something I can do easily. One little movement here or there wakes me up and I usually yelp from the pain.
Right now the only time I can get any relief is if I get on all fours for a few minutes. After I do this I can usually move about easier for about 15 minutes before things start to hurt again.
Watching me walk around the house can be quite entertaining as well since I often mimic the movements of a little old lady and shuffle my feet taking itty bitty baby steps to get from point a to point b.
This past weekend the family and I stayed at a local hotel and the only part of the trip that was pain free was while I was in the pool.
Of course, this made me want to put a pool in our living room for me to sit in until I am ready to give birth but that idea was squashed rather quickly.
Also, the thing that causes more pain is that baby is still breech and has her little feet pounding at the cervix constantly!
So yeah, I am in pain.
And yes, I am going to complain, and whine and sometimes I have to cry my way through it all just to deal with it.
I know in the end it will be worth it because I will finally have my little girl here but really, this is not something I would wish on anyone.
I have given birth naturally 3 times and this pain that I am currently experiencing if far worse than labor in my honest opinion!

Breech Baby Breech Baby……

I had my Baby Ellie check up today.
I am currently in my 29th week of pregnancy.
That means that today I got to drink the dreaded Glu-Cola and have my blood drawn to check for gestational diabetes.
I have done this for every pregnancy and have always dreaded drinking that crap but understand that it is a necessary precaution. I’m hopeful that everything will check out fine as it did with each pregnancy before.

I also had an ultrasound today as well.
First thing out of the tech’s mouth…..
she’s still breech.

See, here are her adorable little feet sitting nice and low where they can kick me so hard I think her foot is going to pop right out of my lady bits!

Aren’t they cute?!
Needless to say, I am not a fan of the breech position and the location of her feet and am PRAYING she flips SOON!!!!!
The thought of her staying breech and my having to undergo a c-section is terrifying me!!
Yeah, I’m not a fan of being sliced open.

Other than that, she seems to be doing pretty good in the ol’ womb.
She tends to be a little camera shy and it doesn’t make it any easier to see her since the placenta seems to be obstructing our view of her.
Oh and she prefers to keep her little face turned towards my spine making it more difficult to catch a glimpse, but we were able to get a quick peek before she ran to hide.

Her chubby little cheek in this one just melts my heart!!

Of course as we are getting closer to the finish line we are all getting pretty excited around here.
I am hoping to start doing some shopping soon since we will need to purchase everything all over again.
Yep, a crib, stroller, swing…you name it….we need it.
Oh—except we don’t need a pack and play since a great friend of ours had one she never used and sent it home with us!

I have picked up a few little girly outfits here and there including a little black tutu and leggings that I cannot wait to see her in!

We are now to the point when we get to start going to the doctor every two weeks now which is also exciting.
In the meantime I am just praying that she gets herself out of the breech position or at least stops kicking so hard down there and that she will let me get some sleep….she tends to be a night owl!

Next appointment is November 4th so watch for an update then!!
