Farewell Lola

This past weekend, the Alex and I packed up the minivan and headed West to Eau Claire to see my sister in law graduate from college.
Along the way we had fun signing and chair dancing and just enjoying time together.
Then, about an hour from our destination, the engine in our van blew up.
Blew up as in it decided that it did not want to work anymore.
So, there we sat.
On the side of the highway.
Next to a cross that said R.I.P. Don.
My father in law had to drive the hour from Eau Claire to rescue us.
Lola, my poor van was towed to a dealership and then off to be salvaged.
It was a very sad weekend.

A moment of silence please……

You will be missed.

So, we have spent the past few days shopping for a van and have found one.
We pick it up tonight!!!
So after today, we will be the proud owners of a 2005 Dodge Caravan and will be making car payments once again.
I am excited and can’t wait to pick up the van because for the past 4 days we have been cramming our family of 5 into our 2003 Kia Spectra which is a very, very tight squeeze and after 5 minutes in the car we want to kill each other.

Watch for pictures of the new van!

Father’s Day Traditions

For years all my sister and I heard that my dad wanted for Father’s Day was a new hose reel.
Every time we were told he wanted one, we obliged and made the purchase.
These days he asks for things such as gift cards so he can save up for a certain item.
This year he wants gift cards towards a remote starter for his new car.
Yes, he gets expensive but so did my sister and I over the years.
Needless to say, I’m sure he’ll be pleased once again this year.

When it comes to Father’s Day within my own house, things are a little different.
My Alex doesn’t really ask for anything other than a few extra hours of sleep or to get out of chores for the day.
Yeah, he is just that sweet.
Even though he doesn’t usually ask for anything I try to have the kids do something nice for him.
This year I am still trying to figure out just what to do.

I’ve been looking around online and have visited Tiny Prints a few times debating on making him a custom Father’s Day card.

This year, I think the Alex’s biggest Father’s Day gifts are that we are expecting another child and that he will be adopting Zack and Libby the first week of June.

What else could I possibly give him for Father’s Day to show him just how much we love him other than that?
Any suggestions???

K’NEX Roary the Racing Car Sets Review

Alexander loves blocks and race cars.
Last weekend he was over by my parents and sat on my dad’s lap for 3 hours straight watching a Nascar race.
His eyes were glued to the TV.
When I picked him up later that night, he had successfully learned the phrases….”Boogity! Boogity! Boogity!” and “Let’s go racing boys!”
Now, every time he sees a race car he repeats these lines over and over and over again.
Especially now that he has the K’NEX Roary the Racing Car Maxi Building Set.
This set is for children ages 3 and up and contains 18 pieces and is easy for a toddler/preschooler to manipulate and assemble.

My little Alexander is a huge fan of this set and has already asked that we get the others. (This is what I get for leaving the Roary the Racing Car page open on my computer).

Another great thing about these building sets is that all of the Roary the Racing Car sets include an adapter that lets kids use their car on many popular toy train tracks, an image above details how this works.

You can find the K’NEX Roary the Racing Car sets at Toys R’ Us.
