10 Holiday Tips from The Megalomaniac Mommy & Family

1. PLAN AHEAD!!
-This is a must! I like to plan my holiday shopping in advance to make sure I get the best deal on everything.
2. ASK FOR LISTS EARLY
-Again, another must do when shopping for others to ensure you get the item on the list and again, score the best deal on it!
3. LOOK ONLINE FOR ITEMS FIRST
-Prior to hitting any of the stores, I like to compare prices of items online. By doing this I can often get more items, score free shipping and locate a coupon/promo code to use for additional savings.
4. USE LAYAWAY IF POSSIBLE
-There are a few stores that have brought layaway back for the holidays. This is another great tool for those who need more time to pay on items.
5. DON’T BE AFRAID TO SHOP AROUND
-Again, I am a saver. I absolutely hate to overpay on anything and if I can use a coupon, I will every time!
6. HAVE THE LITTLE ONES MAKE PERSONAL/HOMEMADE GIFTS FOR GRANDPARENTS & OTHER LOVED ONES
-For me, the homemade gifts are always my favorite and the ones I will always cherish!
7. PERSONALIZE HOLIDAY CARDS
-Over the past few years, I have become a fan of sending out cards with cute family photos with a personal message on each, these are also our favorite cards to receive! I like to order our festive Christmas cards online since there are so many options available and I do it early enough in the season to ensure that I receive them early enough and get them mailed out in time!
8. PLAN YOUR MENU IN ADVANCE & CHECK YOUR SHOPPING LIST TWICE
-I remember many, many times my mom had to send someone to the store the night before a holiday or the morning of to pick up those few items that got skipped on the list.
9. KEEP A LIST OF EVERYTHING YOU BOUGHT, WHO IT IS FOR, AND WHERE YOU STASHED IT
-I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!!! My mom is notorious for buying gifts early in the year and stashing them around the house, forgetting where she put them and giving them to you a week or two after the holiday!
10. SAVE THE RECEIPTS FOR EVERYTHING YOU BUY EVEN IF YOU HAVE A GIFT RECEIPT!!
-Gift receipts have a tendency to get lost, mixed up etc. It is best to keep the original receipt on hand when giving a gift in case a return or exchange needs to be made.

4 Years

It’s hard to believe that 4 years ago today I married my best friend.
In that 4 years, I have come to realize just how lucky I am to have such an amazing man by my side.
He is a great husband, father and friend that I really couldn’t have asked for more in a partner to have by my side and share my life with.
I am truly grateful for every minute that we have spent together and look forward to all that is yet to come.
Who would have thought that when he first came into my life 5 and a half years ago that this would be the man I was destined to spend the rest of my life with?
Oh wait, that’s right…..I did.
I knew it from the moment he introduced himself to me.
I love you Alex.
Happy 4th Anniversary!

Sleeper’s Run by Henry Mosquera

Hardworking (and EXTREMELY tired) Hubby here bringing you another book review. This time it is for the espionage thriller Sleeper’s Run from Henry Mosquera.

A former special ops veteran who now suffers from post traumatic stress disorder is drinking and fighting his way through all the bars in Miami when a chance encounter helps him get out of his rut. This new friend helps him find a new high powered job that allows him to travel and they send him to his home country in Central America. But this wonderful new job and new friends are not what they seem and he now finds himself in the middle of a CIA plot to overthrow this foreign president and he is the scapegoat. He escapes and the chase is on.

Very thrilling and well written. Reads like a Bourne movie.

Sleeper’s Run is now available for purchase in a variety of formats through Amazon.

Tips to Keep in Touch

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Straight Talk for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Without my cell phone, I feel lost.  Yes, I am that person.

I’m not the only one in my family with this affliction, but it has hit my husband and two oldest children as well.

Hook, line and sinker!  We are sucked in!

When we first started the kids out with cell phones, we did what was the best option for our family, financially at the time and hooked them up with prepaid cell phones.

Their first phones were nothing fancy, just a little clam shell phone without the bells and whistles.  These days, prepaid phones are just as fancy and nice as those you would get with a cellular carrier that cost a fortune.  Now you can get Android on Straight Talk!

Straight Talk offers cellular service at a reasonable price with NO CONTRACT!  Straight Talk also offers International Long Distance at low rates, giving you the option to Call a friend no matter where they are located!  This would be a great option for my mother in law right now who has been working in the Philippines for the last month.  I think if she goes back again, we might look into getting her a phone so she can call us any time and talk to the kids!!

Straight Talk offers you Everything you need in a cellular plan without the contract and hidden fees!

Kathryn the Grape’s Colorful Adventure Review & #GIVEAWAY- Ends 10/20

In February, we had the chance to review Kathryn the Grape – Just Like Magic and we loved it. It was such an inspirational story that taught you how to believe in yourself and find the magic within yourself everyday.

On September 21st, Kathryn the Grape’s Colorful Adventure was released. Kathryn the Grape’s Colorful Adventure is a tale that helps children understand how to make their own true colors shine.

My little Libby really related to this book because she is currently that girl with 2 brothers (until her baby sister arrives this winter) who has had to find her own ways to shine within our family.  She has learned to use creativity and imagination to help her find her own place in our world and knows that she is just as special as everyone else.

Kathryn the Grape’s Colorful Adventure is another inspiration story from Kathryn Cloward and Ginny Hornby that is sure to teach others how to let their colors shine!
