15 Months

On Tuesday of this week, Joey turned 15 months.

How is it possible that this happy, sweet, loving and wonderful little boy has already been part of our world for 15 months?
Joey 15 Months

It’s crazy to believe that it’s already been 15 months since Joey became a part of our lives.  Having the opportunity to watch this little guy grow and learn everyday of his life has been an absolute blessing.

Joey is a boy that is so full of life that loves his family, his dog and to laugh.  When I say he loves to laugh, it is an understatement.  Joey thinks it’s laugh your butt off funny to spin in circles, slide down the back of the couch, have someone smell his stinky feet, and so much more. At 15 months old, he has learned to find humor in everything.

Seriously…..what’s not to love with this kid?

And to think….we though we were done after Ellie was born.  I’m beyond words glad that something out there decided we weren’t finished with our family and that we now have Joey.

It now feel that our family is complete!

I Was Meant for This Job

In my life, all 35, almost 36, years of it, I have held an abundance of jobs.
I’ve been a housekeeper in a hotel.
I’ve been a cashier in a department store and a gas station.
I’ve been a child care provider and preschool teacher in a day care.
I’ve been a server, hostess and attendant in a restaurant.
I’ve been a delivery driver in a business filled with men.
I’ve been a customer service representative in a cubicle.
I’ve been a bartender in a bar.
I’ve been an insurance agent and salesperson knocking at the door.
I’ve been a blogger at a computer.
Of all the things I have been there is one that I was destined for.
I was meant to change diapers.
I was meant to wipe away tears.
I was meant to kiss boo-boos.
I was meant to lose countless hours of sleep.
I was meant to scare away monsters under the bed.
Of all the things I’ve done in my life and of all the jobs I’ve had, the one I was truly meant for is the job of mom.

I am a mom, before anything else.

My children are the reason I wake up every morning

and live and breathe every day.

I was meant for this job.

Homecoming – 2014

Last week was Homecoming week here in Ashwaubenon and with two kids in high school now, you can bet they were busy and in and out of the house all week!

They had a few theme dress up days, powder puff football, dodgeball, a parade, tailgating, the big football game on Friday night and the homecoming dance on Saturday.

Here are a few pictures from the night of the Homecoming dance.

Our 2014 Door County Daycation

Now that the school year has ended and the warm weather has arrived, we are doing our best to soak it all in.  This past Friday, we celebrated the start of summer break by taking a much needed daycation to Door County.

Door County is my favorite place in Wisconsin, aside from Green Bay/Ashwaubenon.  It’s a great place to escape to when you need to get away and it is absolutely beautiful and filled with lots of fun things to do!

We started our trip with a quick stop for some drinks and breakfast. While we waited in the van, Ellie asked me to take a picture.

While we were on our journey, we thought the kids should learn something so I oulled over at a historical landmark and had Zack read it to all of us.

That was our educational moment on the trip.

We decided we would drive straight through Door County and go right to Gills Rock (the tip of the thumb) and work our way back down.

When we got to Gills Rock it was crazy windy and a bit chilly.  We got out of the van, walked around for a few minutes and checked out the gift shops and picked up a few things.  Once we were freezing our buns off, we decided it was time to begin our journey down the peninsula but first, Zack and I had to snap a quick pic together.

Once we left Gills Rock, we made the decision to head down to Sister Bay and grab lunch at the infamous Al Johnson’s.

When we were walking up to the entrance of Al Johnson’s they had this cute bench and I wanted to get a picture of all 5 kids together.  This is the closest I got…..4 out of 5 kids looking at the camera.

We were really surprised to see just how BIG the menus were.

Not only was the food delicious but the kids got to see the goats on the roof too.  Yes, goats on the roof!

After lunch we made a few stops at some local shops before heading to Ephraim to get some ice cream from Wilson’s Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlor. *Alex and I went to Wilson’s on our first date for dessert almost 8 years ago.

Once we had devoured our ice cream and cleaned everyone up, including Ellie who managed to get an upset tummy without eating anything, I decided to head over to the local beach and let everyone dip their toes in the water.

We got lucky when we got over to the beach that it was finally warm enough for the little kids to go play in the sand and even go swimming and we spent the next 2 hours at the beach having fun.

The kids all had soooo much fun.  This was Joey’s first experience with sand and he absolutely LOVED it.

Love might not even be the right word to describe just how much he enjoyed it.

One of my favorite moments of Joey’s first trip to the beach was seeing his face beam with happiness when he was hanging out with Alex.

If there is one thing that I know for sure it is that Joey LOVES his daddy!

I really enjoyed just sitting on the beach with this as my view.

After all the fun of playing at the beach we hit a few more stores in Fish Creek and Egg Harbor, picked up a 6 pack of Shipwrecked Door County Cherry Wheat beer and made our way home.

I’m so fun that everyone had such a great time and I can’t wait to do it again.  We are already planning on going back up in July.

Getting Our Family Groove Back

After going back and forth, weighing the pros and cons, Alex and I decided a few weeks ago that he would move back to 3rd shift.

He says he did it so Alexander could play t-ball this summer but I know that he really did it to for my sanity and to make me stop bitching.

This past Sunday night, he made the switch and went in to work for 10pm until Monday morning at 6am.  The last 4 days have been AWESOME!

On Monday morning, he got the kids off to school and then I got up and he went to bed from 8-2.  Monday was amazing!

If you follow me on Facebook you saw this as my status update Monday night:

The rest of the week has gone pretty well too!  I’ve enjoyed my alone time in the mornings with Ellie & Joey and I absolutely LOVE having Alex home with us for dinner every night.  Although it sucks that he’s not here at night again, having Joey to snuggle with makes it a lot easier!

It is definitely nice to be getting our groove back as a family!
