Wet Ones Antibacterial Wipes Review

I have always been a big fan of Wet Ones Antibacterial Wipes, even before I became a mom. I have always found it very handy to have them stashed in the glove box, my purse, the diaper bag—-you name it. You never know when you are going to find yourself in need of a wet wipe so why not always be prepared??

Now that I am a mom, I am constantly trying to keep my kids healthy—which is no easy task when there are constantly germs everywhere. Call me crazy, but I am the mom who will wipe down the shopping cart, the highchair and table at a restaurant, and the strollers in the mall. You never know what you are putting your hands on or worse yet, what your toddler is putting their mouth on!

Wet Ones are antibacterial wipes that kill 99.99% of germs and unlike hand sanitizers, they wipe away dirt and messes without drying out your skin! Wet Ones are portable and come in canisters, travel packs, or individually wrapped and are available in two scents; Fresh and the new improved Citrus Scent.

Teach your kids good hand hygiene by using Wet Ones!

Energizer Personal Care recently provided me with a Wet Ones pack filled with a canister, a travel pack and a box of individual wipes for us to give a try and of course, we have been using them! I recently found that they come in very handy when you are potty training a 3 year old who has to use a port-a-potty!

Since Energizer Personal Care was so generous to us, they have offered to give one lucky reader of The Megalomaniac Mommy an awesome prize pack to that will consist of:

Clogged: A Potty Training Update

Well, here we are coming to the end of week 2 on our potty training adventure with Alexander. After 2 weeks, I have to say we have been mighty successful. The little Alexander has only had a few accidents here and there. The best part is not one of those accidents has happened outside of the house! We have been to restaurants, a football game, the grocery store, even other people’s homes and not one accident!!
YAY TATERTOT!!

Oh, did I mention that he has also kicked the habit of doing the number 2 in the underwears?
He has!
He gets really excited when he does it on the potty and looks forward to the big flush at the end.
Alexander is also getting better during the night as well. On the nights that he does wake up in the wee hours, he does manage to go potty and I have also noticed he isn’t going in his Pull-Up as much at night either. So, until we go at least a week with a dry Pull-Up through the night, we are going to continue to use them for sleeping.

Now for the downfalls.
Since becoming a big boy and using the potty, Alexander has developed an obsession with flushing the potty.
Not only does he enjoy flushing it, he likes to flush things down it too.

As I sit here typing this, both of our toilets are out of order until my father gets done with work at 2am, makes the 45 minute drive from work home and stops here on the way…….I am pregnant with no potty.

Let me tell you, pregnant without a working potty is no fun!
No.Fun.At.All.

We know that one toilet is clogged with toilet paper, we just aren’t sure how much of it and if there is anything else in there. The other one is most likely blocked by a few cotton swabs we are sure he flushed earlier in the day leading to a clog.

Now, we’ve plunged and plunged and plunged to no avail.
My father in law came over and attempted to snake both toilets with no luck.
So. here I sit…..with two brand new wax rings just in case, waiting for my father—-PA the Great, to come to my rescue!!

Wish me luck!

Parenting – Some days it really sucks!

Today is one of those days.
You know, the day when you feel like the absolute worst parent in the world because you actually considered selling your child to the gypsies or trading one on the black market.
I can honestly say, this is one of my worst days as a mom.

Today, we removed a bedroom door and took away privacy.
Tomorrow, we will be removing the desk and other miscellaneous items leaving only the clothes in the closet, the dresser and the bed behind in addition to a lamp for reading before bed.
We will be emailing teachers daily, addressing listening and attitude issues.
I am at my wits end.
So is the Alex.

Until we see a vast improvement in school work, responsibility, listening and attitude this is how things will remain in our home.
Call it tough love, shitty parenting or whatever you like.
This is our last resort and I hate that it had to come to this.

I Remember

I do remember that tragic day a decade ago.
I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing.
It is something I will never forget.

This year, I will remember that day quietly.
I will pay tribute to those who have fallen in a quiet prayer.

I will not relive that awful day by reading stories, watching movies, television or even the news.

Just know, that I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER.

Interview with Claim of Innocence author Laura Caldwell

Q. Describe your latest book in 15 words or fewer.
A. In Claim of Innocence, Izzy and her best friend ,Maggie, defend a woman charged with poisoning her own best friend.

Q.   What inspired you to write CLAIM OF INNOCENCE?
A.  I’m admit I’m sort of marrying my real life with my fictional life in Claim of Innocence. My character, Izzy McNeil, is a redheaded Chicagoan who worked as a civil lawyer most of her career but has fallen into the world of criminal defense. That comes pretty close to my life. I used to be a civil lawyer, defending doctors who were sued. I never thought I’d be working with exonerees. I feel incredibly fortunate.

Q.  Where do you do most of your writing?
A.  In one of two places: If I’m in Chicago, I write in what the real estate agent grandly called ‘the penthouse room.’ Basically it’s a sunny room off the roof deck. It’s filled with red and white furniture (keeps me awake), a curvy book shelf laden with reference books and a street sign bolted to the wall that reads, STOP HERE ON RED.The other place I love to write is in Long Beach, Indiana, a place of hidden beauty. In the summer, I sit on the deck and am surrounded by a sea of green from all the trees. In the winter, you can find me in front of the fire.

Q.  What is your favorite book?
A.  That changes all the time. Right now, I’m reading Straight Man by Richard Russo and loving it. And I know many people who had a hard time with Freedom by Jonathan Franzen, but I adored it.

Q.  Which part of CLAIM OF INNOCENCE was the most enjoyable to write?
A.  I love writing about 26th and Cal, which is the home of Chicago criminal courts and many of its jails. Everyone who has ever been there will tell you that it has the craziest energy—part thrilling, part desperate, part seen-it-all, part wildly optimistic. I like appearing there as a lawyer and I like writing about it too.
