Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of this DVD for review purposes. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you know me, then you are aware that I have a *slight* obsession with Gilmore Girls. I’ve watched the original 7 seasons through, from start to finish, over 60 times. I can recite episodes, in their entirety, while watching along. I often quote my favorite lines and use Gilmore-isms, almost daily. To say I am a fan, is an understatement.

When Netflix announced they were giving us 4 new episodes, I swear I heard the heavens open and the angels sing from above. It was the best.news.ever. I started a countdown on my Facebook page and shared a Gilmore meme each day until Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life hit Netflix on 11/25/2016.  When the episodes hit the air at 2am, there I was, in my living room with my cup of coffee in hand, wearing my Luke’s t-shirt, surrounded by Pop-Tarts, Red Vines, Mallomars, Twinkies and more.

Hearing my favorite voices and seeing my favorite characters come back to life, I was glued to the TV from Winter and binged right on through to the end of Fall.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life takes you back to the nostalgic Stars Hollow for the ultimate revival of the adored series, Gilmore Girls. The coffee-loving, fast-talking, mother and daughter duo are back just as you remembered!

Nearly ten years after the original series ended, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life begins, Lorelai still runs the Dragonfly Inn (and chugs coffee like it’s water) and Rory, now 32, has experienced some career success. As Rory works through job-related struggles and Lorelai deals with some unresolved issues of her own, Emily Gilmore has been handling the loss of her dear husband, Richard. Emily is at a major crossroads in her life, recently widowed and trying to figure out what to do next. Richard’s death forces Emily and Lorelai to finally reexamine their own fraught relationship, which hasn’t changed much since the beginning of the series.

As a diehard fan, I have to say that I loved this revival, I loved everything about it. I cried and I laughed, and I just loved it. It did leave some unanswered questions, like the original series did, however I am remaining hopeful that there will be another revival!

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life consists of 4 – 90 minute episodes, titled Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall and is available for purchase on DVD and Blu-ray on 11/28. You can preorder it below!

If you have a Gilmore Girls fan on your shopping list, I guarantee this will make the perfect gift!

#WelcometoParenthood with UPtv

I’ll admit it, I love to watch TV.

There, I said it.

I love to sit down in my big comfy chair, put my feet up, cover up with a nice big blanket and turn on my favorite shows.

Over the years, I have gone from watching soap operas to reality TV to comedies to dramas. Of all of the shows I watch, my favorite are dramas that center around family because those are the shows I can relate to.

One of my favorite shows in recent years was Parenthood. If you’ve seen it, I’m sure you love it. If you haven’t seen it, you are truly missing out.

I have been #TeamBraverman since watching the first episode. All it took was a little screen time with Zeek and Camille, seeing how they parent (yes, they still parent their adult children) and how their children parent and I was hooked. Of course, it didn’t hurt when they threw in Lauren Graham as Sarah and Dax Shepard as Crosby!

Seeing a family interact the way the Braverman’s do in Parenthood made me jealous and want to be part of their family.

Relive Parenthood with UPtv

If you haven’t seen Parenthood or you have and want to see it again, now is the time! Parenthood premieres on UPtv, today, May 30th at 7 pm CST and episodes will run through midnight.

Thanks to the great folks at UPtv and the care package they sent me, I am all set for an evening with the Braverman’s and yes, that is my name on that bag (and on the back of the sweatshirt), which means I am officially a Braverman!!!!

Are you ready to fall in love with the Braverman’s???

The Casual Vacancy on Blu-ray and DVD

Given the fact that Alex is a HUGE J.K Rowling fan, I thought we would give The Casual Vacancy a try and see what he thought.

Based on the global bestselling novel by J.K. Rowling, the HBO and BBC coproduction THE CASUAL VACANCY is a three-part mini-series produced by Brontë Film and Television, written by Sarah Phelps (Eastenders, Great Expectations) and directed by Jonny Campbell (Doctor Who, Shameless). The mini-series centers on Pagford, a seemingly idyllic English village with a cobbled market square and ancient abbey. Behind the pretty façade, however, is a town at war. The rich at war with the poor, children at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils.

Of course, Alex loved every second of it, as did Libby, just like I thought they would. For me, I don’t know what it is but I just cannot get into it, but that’s just me. The series does have a great story line and now Alex wants to go back and read the book.

The way I see it is, if you are a fan of British television shows, you will probably enjoy this miniseries.

You can get your copy of The Casual Vacancy on Blu-ray or DVD.

I am an ‘Odd Mom Out’

So, I’m going to be honest, I don’t watch a lot of TV.  We have cable and I record stuff but I spend a majority of my time watching things on Netflix or kids shows.

When it comes to a new show, I find that I can be picky and it really has to be something I can relate to. As a mom of 5, I tend to find humor in other moms experiences and this is probably why Bravo’s new show, Odd Mom Out, is sure to be my new guilty pleasure.

Without going into too many details and ruining the premiere for you, let me tell you, if you have ever felt like you are the odd mom out in a group of moms, you will love this show.

I laughed…A LOT.

I’ve quoted a few lines from it already because they are just that good.

Also, I’ve never been through the Holland Tunnel and now I may never make mac & cheese again. <<—You NEED to watch the premiere to understand that line.

Jill, the Odd Mom Out in this show, owns it in every situation and provides a humorous, relatable outlook on her every day encounters with the other women and seriously, I can’t stop laughing!

I love that she is down to Earth and is a very relatable character.

Be sure to gather your girlfriends together for the premiere on Bravo on June 8th at 10/9c and have the Mom-osas ready!
