Gaggle of Chicks

Now, if you know me, you will know that I HATE to pay full price for anything. I prefer to shop for things on sale, on clearance or with a coupon. When the opportunity came via email for me to check out a new site called Gaggle of Chicks, I jumped on it!

Gaggle of Chicks is committed to saving moms time and money. This is done by offering daily deals on the best products and services.

Here is a break down of how Gaggle of Chicks works

Gaggle of Chicks was kind enough to provide me with a credit in my account so I could make a purchase and check out how the system works. I ended up purchasing the Nomie Baby deal to order a car seat cover for my little man as pictured below.

The car seat cover retains for $36 plus $6.95 for shipping. With my having purchased the deal on Gaggle of Chicks, I saved $11.01 on my purchase!

For me, that is a GREAT deal!

I also purchased a deal for My True Nature products which will save me $13.01 on my order and tonight, I purchased the I Like Book deal with a savings of $7.95.

Then there was also the awesome part that Gaggle of Chicks also credited my account with $5.00 just for signing up!

Did I mention that they also offer rewards for inviting friends?
They totally do!
If you invite your friends, you get $10 and they get $10 after they make their first purchase!
And there is no limit on how much you can earn!
Plus, if you sign up using my referral link, you will get a $10 credit instead of $5!
How AWESOME is that?

The site was easy to use, has a variety of deals and also offers a community for moms to talk to one another!

So, what are you waiting for?
Head on over to Gaggle of Chicks and sign up now!

Thank A Soldier

I encourage you to take a moment and pop over to the Let’s Say Thanks site and show you support our troops by sending a free printed postcard to military personnel stationed overseas.

It’s completely free and very easy to do.
Select a postcard design, personalize it and hit send!
See…..easy peasy lemon squeezey! (I know, I’ve watched far too much Hannah Montana!)

I just took 5 minutes of our day and each one of us picked a card to personalize and send!

Auntie Anne’s At-Home Baking Kit

Last month, we received an Auntie Anne’s At-Home Baking Kit to review. We are lovers of Auntie Anne’s perfectly flavored pretzels and the kids are always asking for one every time we are in the mall.

Last night, we finally had time to break out the at-home kit and put it to use.
We didn’t use it to make pretzels though.
We thought we would try using it as a pizza crust as suggested on the side of the box.

First things first, the kit contained everything we needed to make the pizza crust except water. (It could have also been used to make 10 pretzels with salt or cinnamon sugar).
The pizza dough was super easy to make, but I did use my mixer and dough hooks instead of mixing and kneading the dough.
Once it was mixed, I let it sit and rise for about 30 minutes.
When it was ready, I rolled it out onto a cookie sheet/jelly roll pan that I had sprinkled some flour on.
From there, I spread sauce out, added a bit of cheese followed by pepperoni, mushrooms, black olives and finally more cheese!
After it was topped, I popped it in the over at 400* F for 23 minutes.
When it came out it looked AMAZING!

The pizza was unbelievably delicious.
The crust has a sweet flavor to it that just made it more enjoyable.
We were both hooked and I’m pretty sure my mom liked it too since she was sampling it while she was visiting!

Oh and I can’t forget that the kids and I had a lot of fun making it together!  Libby was very intrigued with the way the dough hooks mixed everything together!

The Auntie Anne’s At-Home Baking Kit is available for purchase in select stores and Auntie Anne’s locations in addition to their fundraising program.

Be the Change: Save a Life

Last night, ABC aired a special edition of 20/20 called Be the Change: Save a Life.
The show focused on bringing attention to today’s most pressing health challenges, and to inspire people to act.
The Alex and I sat down with Zack and Libby to watch it this evening.
I wanted my kids to watch it and learn a valuable lesson.
To learn that they are lucky to have the lives they have and be provided with everything they have.
I wanted them to learn how to make a difference in the lives of others.

After the first segment was over, Zack was already asking what he could do to help.
By the end of the second segment, Libby was right there next to him.
At the conclusion of the show, they both were brainstorming ways to raise money to donate.

I think they really benefited from watching this show with us.
Zack is already planning on donating part of his birthday money in February to Charity Water.
Libby wants to donate to help keep a baby warm with the Embrace baby warmer.

The Alex and I are also making plans to donate some money throughout 2011.
