For those of you who aren’t in my immediate circle of friends and family, which means a large part of my readership…..so yes, I am talking about….
This family of 5 that we have created has been going through a lot the last few months.
By a lot, I mean we are going through all of the necessary legal channels to make us an ‘official’ family.
Yes.
By becoming an ‘official’ family, I mean that the Alex is taking of the responsibility of becoming Zack and Libby’s legal father.
In October, we started the process of step-parent adoption.
As you know, I have a sordid past which produced 2 beautiful children.
Since the Alex has come into their lives, he has more than proved that he is more than their step-dad.
He is their dad.
He is the one who helps take care of them when they are sick.
He is the one who attends their parent teacher conferences.
He is the one who watches their baseball, soccer and football games.
He is the one who provides them with the things they need and the things they want.
He is the one who keeps a roof over their head and food on the table.
He is the one who helps with homework.
He is the one who loves them unconditionally as if they were his biological children.
He is their Dad.
So far, we have been playing a waiting game.
A very, very, very long waiting game.
There has been A LOT of paperwork.
There have been background checks.
6 of them to be exact.
There has been an interview with the Child Welfare/Adoption Specialist who has been assisting us through this process.
And now, now we wait.
Again.
We are waiting for her final report.
Once that is complete, we move on to the next step and file with the courts.
It’s just a matter of time before we become an ‘official’ family.
We can’t wait!

Kidswitch Review and Giveaway- CLOSED
Sponsored by Tomoson.com
Alexander likes to turn the lights on and off in our house constantly.
He has a variety of ways to reach the light switches he just can’t quite get to yet.
He’ll stand on his Fireman hat to reach the one around the corner from the baby gate to turn the lights on and off in the kitchen.
He stands on pillows in the living room to turn the front porch light off and on. Off and on.
I swear someday’s it looks like a strobe light.
The one light he has struggled to get at is the one in my bedroom.
And…he spends a lot of time in my bedroom.
He also likes to be independent and insists that he is a big boy.
Then, along came the Kidswitch and it made his life easier!
(For the next part, I was going to take pictures of Alexander using the Kidswitch but today is one of the days he is refusing to put clothes on. The ones I finally had him in, have already been removed. *sigh*).
The Kidswitch is an awesome tool that has been designed to give toddlers the independence of turning the lights on and off all by themselves!
For us, it has been wonderful!
It was super easy to install and even came with a decora switch adapter since every light switch in our house is a decora switch and it works wonders.
The little Alexander is loving his new found independence in my bedroom, so much that some nights when he’s hanging out with me I experience strobe light effects in my room!
These switches, are also NOT an eye sore. They are super cute and completely designed with kids in mind and THEY GLOW IN THE DARK!!!!
Talk about AWESOME!!!
We’ve enjoyed our Kidswitch so much, that we’re giving one away to one of The Megalomaniac Mommy’s readers!
This giveaway will begin on January 27th 2011 and end on February 17th 2011 and NOON CST and is open to U.S. residents only.

Granola Gourmet Energy Bars- CLOSED
This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to Bethany!
Sponsored by Tomoson.com
As you know, our family is making 2011 the year we get fit and healthy.
Since we are on this mission, we are open to trying new foods and exercises to assist us along the way.
Recently we had the chance to review one each of the Ultimate Berry, Ultimate Cran-Orange, Ultimate Mocha Fudge, and Ultimate Fudge Brownie Granola Gourmet Energy Bars.
First things first, these bars were created by a diabetic and his family, are 100% Natural * No Wheat * No Dairy * Kosher * Vegan, contain Very Low Sodium (15-35mg) * No Refined Sugar
10-13g Whole Grains * 391-590mg Omega-3’s
So…what I can I say?
We tried them.
And as great as the idea of these bars are, they are not for us.
I’m sure they would be great for someone who is already use to eating foods that are 100% natural, but I do not recommend them for those who are trying to change their diets from naughty to good.
If you are a person who enjoys these types of products, that is great because I am giving away 4 Granola Gourmet Ultimate Energy Bars, one of each flavor to one reader of The Megalomaniac Mommy.
This giveaway will begin on January 27th 2011 and end on February 10th 2011 and NOON CST and is open to U.S. residents only.

Updates from Megalomaniac land
Things around The Megalomaniac household have been crazy.
If you haven’t heard, we are beyond words excited that the Packers are going to the Super Bowl!
Needless to say, we’ll be busy preparing for the big game for the next 2 weeks.
Yes, we are THOSE fans.
We’ve also been shelling out the cash to pay off bills in hopes of raising the credit score so we can **crosses fingers** buy a house this year!
Zack is finally healed from his wrestling injury and has returned to practice 5 nights a week for 2.5 hours a night.
The kids religion classes also resumed so we have even less time to choke down dinner these days.
The Alex has continued to be just that, HARDWORKING, and is putting in A LOT of mandatory overtime….I can’t complain, the extra cash is nice, but we sure do miss him!
In other news, I just entered my last block of classes and am 9 weeks away from being a college graduate!
YAY!!!!
We’re still attempting to potty train Alexander, and that’s all I have to say about that.
Oh, and we finally found a Preschool for the Alexander for the Fall and he’s really excited to go to school and do homework!
And that’s really all I’ve got.
Hopefully I’ll be able to get another getting fit update posted in the next few days along with some awesome new recipes we are trying out!
Toodles!
