At the beginning of summer, Alex finally began to tackle all of our overgrown landscaping that has been in place from the day we moved in. Our yard is flooded with bushes, rock, weeds, and flowers scattered about. There was just too much going on.
House before we moved in.
With everything the previous owners had going on in the year, our house looked plain and hidden behind a bunch of stuff.
Now that Alex has tackled a lot of it and put in some new landscaping, our house looks like it is loved and honestly, it looks much happier now.
House with new landscaping.
Now, we still have a lot of work to do and we are slowly getting it done. Eventually we will build a wooden porch over the current one, add some flower boxes and possibly some color to the shutters as well as cut down the tree in front since it is slowly dying off.
A Green Thumb, I Am Not
The day Alex finished this project, we picked up some flower pots and flowers and potted them and set them into the mulch out front. I should have known better….we stink at remembering to water things, other than the kids and dog, and well, our flowers are on the verge of death.
Sad. I know.
Since we failed at keeping them up this year, and well, every other time we have flowers or a plant that depends on water, I thought we could stick some fake flowers outside and keep the real ones inside!
Operation Fresh Flowers
Now that I have decided we need to stick to fresh flowers in the house instead, I figured we could either grab them from the store or even set up a regular flower delivery with a local florist to make sure we always have pretty flowers.
The thought of something as beautiful as these sunflowers in a vase on my kitchen table make me smile and that’s something I want to happen everyday!
I guess I’m off to do some flower shoppin’!
