It’s no secret how much we love to use our Crock-Pot around here. We find that it is much easier to feed our large family this way. We can make big enough batches of food and it’s also great to be able to prep and make something in the morning, toss it in the crock-pot and leave it to cook during the day while we do other things. Crock-pot cooking definitely makes things a lot easier around here.
Mother Nature was evil to us once again today……yesterday was wearing flip flops and had grass and today I woke up to this.
Since Mother Nature decided to deliver snow to us today, we thought today was the perfect day for soup so Alex got to work this morning prepping all the ingredients and throwing them in the crock-pot for Cheeseburger Soup!
This soup was soooo good, the entire family loved it! All of the kids ate it and didn’t even know they were eating all kinds of vegetables…..vegetables they never want to eat!!!!
I think I mentioned in the past that I LOVE Greek food. Greek salads, gyros, baklava, pastitsio, moussaka….basically all Greek food. There is just something about it that makes my mouth water.
If I could eat one Greek dish everyday, it would be gyros. They are soooooo good!
Over the weekend, Alex made Crock-Pot Gyros with homemade Tzatziki sauce and they were absolutely delicious!
Not only were these gyros and tzatziki sauce yummy, they were both super easy to make!
As a mom, we all wish there was more time in the day. More time to get stuff done. More time to spend with your kids, your spouse, and your family. One thing I am constantly wishing for is more time for ME.
There is so much I would do if I had more time for me. I would love to watch a movie that wasn’t animated and that I didn’t have to constantly pause. I would love to read a book that doesn’t have pictures from cover to cover. I would finally get that spa day I’ve dreamed about and maybe even a date night with Alex. My list could go on and on and on.
The First Years wants to know what you would do with more time for you in their new conest.
The First Years is here to help make life easier and solve parenting challenges. We know you must get tired of the time it takes to organize a drawer full of mismatched sippy cup parts. That’s why The First Years has more than 20 sippy cup designs that feature a spill-proof, super-easy-to-clean One Piece Lid that’s interchangeable across all of our soft spout, sippy and straw cups. We’ll drink to that, and to all the time it saves! So tell us, parents – with all the time these cups save, What Would You Do With More Time For You? Take a cooking class with a master chef? Indulge in a spa weekend? Plant a dream garden?
Each week The First Years is giving away prizes, and on Mother’s Day three parents who enter this contest will receive a surprise they won’t soon forget: their wishes (valued up to $1,000) will be fulfilled! Visit The First Years Facebook page to enter. Contest runs April 1 to 30, 2014.
After going back and forth, weighing the pros and cons, Alex and I decided a few weeks ago that he would move back to 3rd shift.
He says he did it so Alexander could play t-ball this summer but I know that he really did it to for my sanity and to make me stop bitching.
This past Sunday night, he made the switch and went in to work for 10pm until Monday morning at 6am. The last 4 days have been AWESOME!
On Monday morning, he got the kids off to school and then I got up and he went to bed from 8-2. Monday was amazing!
If you follow me on Facebook you saw this as my status update Monday night:
The rest of the week has gone pretty well too! I’ve enjoyed my alone time in the mornings with Ellie & Joey and I absolutely LOVE having Alex home with us for dinner every night. Although it sucks that he’s not here at night again, having Joey to snuggle with makes it a lot easier!
It is definitely nice to be getting our groove back as a family!
