Joey’s Baptism

Well, it only take us almost a year, but this past Sunday, Joey was baptised at our church.  Our church offers baptism a few times a year and well, all of the dates between his birth and now just didn’t work for us and we had to find the perfect Godparents for him too.

So, on Sunday, August 10th 2014, we made our way to church with our family and friends and celebrated our little dude.

Joey's Baptism

Ellie playing in the baptismal pool (with no less than 8 more kids).

Joey with his Godparents, Andrea and Justin.

Although we’ve only known Andrea and Justin for a little over a year, we have become very good friends and they were the perfect choice for Godparents.  (Andrea was the first person other than our parents and kids, that knew I was in labor with the little guy).

Joey just being Joey after his baptism.

This was the first time we didn’t have the traditional get together following the baptism but we did have his Godparents over later in the evening for drinks and conversation.

All in all, it was a very good day!

Planning for College – Are You Prepared? #JourneytoCollege

*This is a sponsored post for SheSpeaks/Kaplan Test Prep. I received compensation to write this post, and any opinions expressed are my own, and reflect my actual experience.*

Now that we will have to children in high school this fall, it has hit me that we have to start talking, prepping and planning for college. Where did the time go and how the heck did we get to this point already?

I’ve been making lists of things I need to research about the whole process, making sure the kids are enrolled in the right classes in school, checking when they need to take different prep tests, doing my best to make sure they keep their grades up and encouraging them to explore all their options.

Did you know that Kaplan can help you with the college planning process with their KapMap?

The KapMap is a month-to-month breakdown that lets you know everything you need to know about getting into a college.

You will find out when to apply, why prepping for tests like the SAT and ACT matter, learn how to apply for financial aid and what you should be looking for when you are choosing a college.

Having never been through this process myself, it is very overwheliming but I don’t want my children to head down the same path after high school that I did.  I want to make sure I am doing everything I need to do to get them on that path and the KapMap helps with that.

If you have a child in high school and are prepping for college, take some time to sit down and discuss their future plans with them.  You can download your own KapMap  to prepare for the discussion and help get your child on the right path.

Also, now through August 28th, you can save $100 when you enroll in a Kaplan SAT or ACT course using code: SHESPEAKS100

Keep Your Pants Dry with Depend #Underwareness #DropYourPants

*This post is brought to you by Depend.  I was financially compensated in order to facilitate this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This post may contain affiliate links.*

I’m going to be brutally honest in this post.  The fact of the matter is I’ve had 5 kids, I delivered each and every one of them vaginally and now, well, the truth is….I pee my pants when I sneeze, when I cough and I have to run from my bed to the potty the minute I wake up every morning or I will pee all over myself.

See.

Honesty.

Hi, my name is Anne and I’m 35 and I suffer from bladder leakage.

Well, admitting that was easy.

My older kids think it’s hilarious that I have this issue and every time I sneeze they ask me if I peed my pants.  On the rare occasion I don’t I consider it a great accomplishment.

If you have a story similar to mine then you should know that you are not alone!

Our friends at Depend are encouraging people to #dropyourpants for #underwareness and let you know there are products availble to support you.

I know, when you think about Depend you think about giant, adult diapers.

SO.NOT.TRUE.

Depend provides a variety of discreet products that help people regain their freedom and get their lives back, including:

Depend Real Fit for Men:

Depend Silhouette for Women briefs:

Both of these look, fit and feel like real underwear and feature a cloth-like fabric for a sleek, ultra-smooth fit.  Depend Underwear with Fit-Flex protection: Features more Lycra stands for a smooth and comfortable close-to-the-body fit.

If you ask me, those are some pretty awesome looking protective underwear NOT adult diapers.

Do you suffer from bladder leakage?

Are you ready to #DropYourPants for #Underwareness ???

Depend will donate $1, up to $3 million, over the next three years to the Simon Foundation for Continence and United Way for each person who participates in the #dropyourpants for #underwareness movement and you get a FREE sample too!

What are you waiting for?  Get out there and #DropYourPants!!!

Organic Meats Delivered to Your Door

Shopping at our local grocery stores for organic products can get pretty pricey and a lot of times the selection is small or less than appealing.  Sometimes it is also hard to find foods that are USDA certified organic as well.

A lot of times we like to make our meat purchases in bulk because it’s easier to meal plan and more cost effective when feeding a family of 7.

When we are shopping for certain cuts of meat we often find ourselves scouring the local ads for sales to see where we can get more bang for our buck.

Although we do a lot of our grocery shopping in-store, we also do a chunk of it online as well.  I enjoy ordering bulk spices and other things online including some organic meats from time to time.  In the past we’ve ordered grassfed organic steaks online, farm fresh chicken breasts and bacon and more!

I love the simplicity of ordering products online and the  convenience of having it delivered directly to our home.  What mom doesn’t love not having to make an extra trip to the grocery store?

Another reason I love shopping for some of our items online is the ability to purchase so much at once, separate it when it arrives and freeze it for different meals.  Having everything on hand and a lot of it makes meal planning effortless.

I’m hopeful that at some point in the near future that I can purchase most of the items our family needs for meals online and have it all delivered directly to our home.  I love finding new products, great savings and more and the internet and ability to order these types of things is much more convienent for our family and for our hectic schedule.
