Create Custom Pet Products with #PrideBites

Since we have become pet owners, we have really started to invest in our beloved dog, Baltazar. If you are a fan of the show Shark Tank, you may have recently been introduced to a pet product company that we have come to love over the past few months called PrideBites™.

What is PrideBites?

PrideBites is a company that was started by a group of college friends who love dogs and were not happy with the quality of dog toys on the market so they decided to create their own.

PrideBites put a lot of work into selecting a variety of soft, durable, safe and easy to clean materials for your dog’s everyday use to create their line of customizable products.

PrideBites & Shark Tank

This past Friday night, PrideBites appeared on the hit TV show, Shark Tank and shared their customizable products with Sharks in hopes of getting $200K in exchange for 10% stake. In the end, they ended up in a deal with Lori Greiner and Robert Herjavec for $200K and 20% equity in PrideBites.

Our Love for PrideBites

We were introduced to PrideBites back in October and were given the opportunity to review one of their coats for Baltazar. I went to their website and customized a nice winter coat for Balty in our signature Green Bay colors of green and yellow and of course personalized it with his name.

Now, Balty isn’t really a fan of clothes but he also isn’t a fan of our extremely cold winters here in Wisconsin and you can bet this coat is sure to keep him warm!

PrideBites coats are insulated with ultra-soft long hair fleece to ensure your pooch stays toasty warm, the sleeves are ribbed for extra comfort and there is even a leash hole to make going for a walk a breeze. What is even better is that these coats are machine washable and easy to clean so you don’t have to worry about what your pup rolls around in outside!

Balty also managed to pack on enough weight over the winter that his jacket doesn’t zip closed right now.

After we received our coat, it didn’t take long before I ordered a toy basket for him too complete with his picture!

Now I just need to find the perfect place to put a bed for him so I can order that too!

You can find PrideBites products online via their website and be sure to follow them on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter for updates and more!

Turn Your Overheated Patio into a Shaded Oasis

If you can fry an egg on your cement patio during the summer, chances are you’re not doing much entertaining. It’s hard to enjoy your yard with family and friends in that type of heat.

Warm climates invite outdoor living, but the sun’s heat often makes patios, decks, pool areas and outdoor kitchens unusable for part of the day. Pergolas, arbors and trellises are popular shade solutions, but they are expensive and require a contractor – and sometimes a building permit.

Most people don’t consider the easy and affordable option of custom, retractable awnings. By installing these long-lasting awnings, you can reclaim that wasted outdoor space and increase the usable square footage of your home.

With motorized, retractable patio awnings from European Rolling Shutters (ERS), you get sun protection and shade coverage that goes beyond clunky umbrellas or canopies. Retractable awnings are the perfect solution to transform scorching backyards into cool, relaxing, happy places. The temperature can actually drop 15 degrees in the 15 seconds it takes to extend an electric awning.

Why You’ll Like ERS Retractable Awnings for Your Deck or Patio:

  • Single awnings can be built up to 23 feet wide by 13.5 feet deep
  • Custom designed and manufactured to suit your home’s style and decor
  • Can be added to existing metal awnings and pergolas for additional shading in the early morning and late afternoon
  • Easy operation via remote control or app for iPhone, iPad or Android- also available with a manual crank
  • Freestanding arms (instead of poles) won’t obstruct your view, barely noticeable when retracted
  • Made with the beautiful and virtually indestructible Sunbrella outdoor fabric and comes with a 10-year limited fabric warranty

We offer 150+ colors and patterns including solids, stripes, tweeds and textured fabrics.
Here are just a few of our favorites:

But wait! There’s more….

If the sun’s heat is a problem in your backyard, it’s probably a problem inside your home as well. You might find your energy bills skyrocket in the summer due to constantly air conditioning in an attempt to keep your home cool.

Window solar screens can reduce solar heat gain in the summer by up to 65% on south- facing windows and 77% on west- facing windows. Conversely, you can roll them up in the winter to let solar heat warm your home’s interior.

(If you want more information on the energy saving value of solar screens, check out the Professional Awning Manufacturers Association, PAMA ENERGY STUDY. It shows how solar shades reduced annual cooling costs up to 86% for homes in San Francisco. Solar shades are also recommended by the US Department of Energy, which reports they can reduce solar heat gains by 65- 77% – Source: Energy.gov.)

Retractable solar screens for doors and windows are another excellent option to keep the inside of your home cool and shaded. Our retractable solar screens can be applied to any glass window or door to block the sun’s glare and excessive heat, which reduces the amount of heat entering your home; thus, cutting back on the need for air conditioning and lowering your energy bill.

Although thin, ERS’ solar screens are durable, corrosion-resistant and very long-lasting. And unlike our aluminum rolling shutters and retractable awnings, solar screens are semi-transparent, which lets you enjoy the sunset without getting sunburned.

Speaking of age spots, ERS’ motorized solar screens block 90% of the sun’s UV rays, limiting sun damage to your skin, furniture and floors. You’ll reclaim living areas lost to bright light and too much heat – and maybe prevent a few wrinkles.

European Rolling Shutters has been the Bay Area’s exterior shading expert since 1983. We are a family owned and operated business with a manufacturing facility and showroom located in South San Jose. We offer a range of energy saving products in addition to patio awnings and solar screens, including rolling shutters and retractable pergola covers.

Traveling Restrictions with Homeschool?

There are many people that love to travel, and having children does not have to put a damper on their travel abilities. Some parents begin traveling with their children not long after birth, while others wait until an age they are able to participate. With online education available, children are capable to travel with their parents year round without missing essential assignments. There is no longer the need of having to wait for school vacations to travel to far off destinations, eLearning makes the possibility of going today real.

Checking State Standards

Before making any plans for traveling, parents want to ensure they are following standard for their home state. It is important to not have any issues with truancy, this is a time for enjoyment. If planning on leaving the country, check the laws of homeschooling with the US Embassy. Better to be safe than sorry, being sure all everything is checked. After getting the go-ahead for traveling while receiving online education, children are able travel with all over with their parents.

Online Education When Travel is Essential

Online homeschool is a great way for students to receive their education that are unable to attend a traditional classroom setting on a daily basis due to travel responsibilities. These students may be athletes or artists that find travel to be a necessity of their daily life. They may find with their demands of travel, it is difficult to stick to commitments of reporting to a physical school or adhering to conventional schedules. With eLearning available right at these children’s fingertips, they are able to receive the same education as if attending a traditional classroom.

FutureSchool.com allows students and parents the enjoyment of travel while receiving their online education in both math and English courses. Students become prepared to take the next step forward of college with the superior program offered.

Encourage Your Young Athlete to Dream

As a mom, I strive to encourage each of my young athletes to dream and chase after whatever it is they want in life. Over the years, I have been a baseball mom, a soccer mom, a football mom, a dance mom, a gymnastics mom, and the list goes on and on.

With each of these titles, I have encouraged my athletes to do their best and live out their dreams. They may not be the best athletes in the world but they are living their dreams, enjoying every minute of it and they each deserve to give it their best shot!

The POWERADE “Just A Kid” Campaign

There is potential in all of us.  No matter what you achieve in life, you start in the same place as everyone else:  as a kid full of potential and big dreams.  At the end of the day, we are all “just a kid” from somewhere.

POWERADE believes that with the right motivation these everyday athletes can realize their potential and one day be the athletes that they look up to. Sports have a major impact on our communities. Whether it is t-ball or the pros, every athlete in every league has a story waiting to be told.

Epic Road Trip

It may only be March but Alex and I have already been talking about what we want to do with the kids this summer. Since we moved into our new house, we haven’t really done any family trips aside from day trips here and there.

This summer, we thought it would be cool to take some time and travel outside of Wisconsin and visit a few places that none of us have ever been to and are in the process of planning an epic road trip.

I want to leave Green Bay and stop in Madison for a few hours and show the kids State Street. From Madison I plan to drive straight through to St. Louis to take the kids to the St. Louis Zoo and to see the St. Louis Arch. I am planning on adding in quite a few other things to take us through a few different states, visiting some different attractions and then making our way back home. I think it would be really cool to look for an available RV rental St. Louis and turn our road trip into an RV trip!

Yes, putting all 7 of us in the family minivan and driving around the midwest for a few days, visiting different places is going to be exhausting, loud and a little pricey (thankfully gas is affordable again) but in the end, I think it will be worth it.

I think this road trip is something our family really needs and it will be a lot of fun planning for it and spending some time together. I’ve even been checking out some different apps that will come in handy along the trip.

We’ve never done a road trip with all 7 of us that wasn’t a day trip and never an overnight trip (as a family) since Ellie and Joey were born. Hopefully this whole thing goes off without a hitch.

If you’ve travelled around the midwest, what are some places you recommend we visit on our trip?
