The Casual Vacancy on Blu-ray and DVD

Given the fact that Alex is a HUGE J.K Rowling fan, I thought we would give The Casual Vacancy a try and see what he thought.

Based on the global bestselling novel by J.K. Rowling, the HBO and BBC coproduction THE CASUAL VACANCY is a three-part mini-series produced by Brontë Film and Television, written by Sarah Phelps (Eastenders, Great Expectations) and directed by Jonny Campbell (Doctor Who, Shameless). The mini-series centers on Pagford, a seemingly idyllic English village with a cobbled market square and ancient abbey. Behind the pretty façade, however, is a town at war. The rich at war with the poor, children at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils.

Of course, Alex loved every second of it, as did Libby, just like I thought they would. For me, I don’t know what it is but I just cannot get into it, but that’s just me. The series does have a great story line and now Alex wants to go back and read the book.

The way I see it is, if you are a fan of British television shows, you will probably enjoy this miniseries.

You can get your copy of The Casual Vacancy on Blu-ray or DVD.

Shaun the Sheep Movie Hits the Big Screen

Since Alexander got his iPad mini from Santa this past Christmas, he has become quite the video watcher on YouTube. He has become such a fan of different shows that I had to create a YouTube account just for him because I was sick of mine updating with his history, suggestions and subscriptions.

Now, a lot of you may be wondering what exactly a 7-year-old boy watches on YouTube and I will tell you…a lot of mod videos for different video games and a lot of Shaun the Sheep.

For those of you who don’t know who Shaun the Sheep is, here’s what you need to know. Shaun the Sheep is a British stop-motion animated television series, a spin-off of the Wallace and Gromit franchise.

Of course, when I first heard about Alexander’s new love for Shaun the Sheep, I had to know how he discovered him and he said it all happened because it popped up on the side of the screen when he was watching a Minecraft video and since the first episode, he’s been hooked (and there are over 100 episodes).

On August 5th, the Shaun the Sheep Movie hits the big screen at theaters nationwide. Check out the trailer for the movie below.

I know Alexander can’t wait to see the movie and I’m pretty sure we will be going on Saturday!

Get to Know Shaun

Check out this great video so you can get to know Shaun better!

I have watched a few episodes of Shaun the Sheep with Alexander and I love the way the characters are and the dedication the creators put in to the show and now the movie, stop-motion is no joke, it’s hard work!

Each of the characters offer a different personality, and they are super adorable too!

After watching all of the movie clips with Alexander, he is even more excited to see the movie. Shaun the Sheep is a great, family friendly movie and is perfect for kids ages 4-10

I am an ‘Odd Mom Out’

So, I’m going to be honest, I don’t watch a lot of TV.  We have cable and I record stuff but I spend a majority of my time watching things on Netflix or kids shows.

When it comes to a new show, I find that I can be picky and it really has to be something I can relate to. As a mom of 5, I tend to find humor in other moms experiences and this is probably why Bravo’s new show, Odd Mom Out, is sure to be my new guilty pleasure.

Without going into too many details and ruining the premiere for you, let me tell you, if you have ever felt like you are the odd mom out in a group of moms, you will love this show.

I laughed…A LOT.

I’ve quoted a few lines from it already because they are just that good.

Also, I’ve never been through the Holland Tunnel and now I may never make mac & cheese again. <<—You NEED to watch the premiere to understand that line.

Jill, the Odd Mom Out in this show, owns it in every situation and provides a humorous, relatable outlook on her every day encounters with the other women and seriously, I can’t stop laughing!

I love that she is down to Earth and is a very relatable character.

Be sure to gather your girlfriends together for the premiere on Bravo on June 8th at 10/9c and have the Mom-osas ready!

Sesame Street: Elmo The Musical 2: Learn and Imagine

Over the last few weeks, Joey has become obsessed with a certain furry little red dude….yes, that one.

Elmo is his new favorite thing and he loves to watch him on PBS, on YouTube and anywhere he can. I thinks it is absolutely adorable when he says Elmo so I’m happy to watch it whenever he wants.

Suprisingly, we don’t have a lot of Elmo videos in our movie library so we are slowly adding some in. I’m really excited because we just added Sesame Street: Elmo The Musical 2: Learn and Imagine to our library and Joey can’t get enough of it.

Your favorite furry red monster is ready to sing and dance as Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization, release Sesame Street: Elmo The Musical Volume 2 on DVD and digital on May 5, 2015 for $14.98 SRP. With over two hours of fun in seven all-new episodes, Sesame Street fans young and old will love to interact with Elmo during his explorations!

In Sesame Street: Elmo the Musical Volume 2: Imagine and Learn, kids will sing, dance, play and imagine along with Elmo on math-filled adventures!  They’ll join Elmo as he becomes a cowboy in his musical “The Count-by-Two Kid,” and escorts six kitty-cows through a canyon to the Double Double Dude Dude Ranch Ranch. Next, they’ll don a detective hat with Elmo to help investigate the secret behind all the sneezing. An extension of Sesame Street’s STEAM curriculum (science, technology, engineering, arts and math), each episode is an interactive, fun-filled musical adventure created by Elmo and the child at home. Focusing on imagination and math skills, such as enumeration, relational concepts, addition/subtraction, geometric shapes and many more, Elmo takes viewers on thrilling explorations as he imagines himself in many adventures. This DVD also includes bonus full-length video of Play With Me Sesame: Imagine With Me, which focuses on imagination and interactive learning.

Of course, I wasn’t surprised that this has quickly become one of Joey’s favorite videos since he wants to watch Elmo morning, noon and night so it’s been a blessing to have some new stuff for him to watch and to save my sanity!

Be sure to get your copy of Sesame Street: Elmo the Musical Volume 2: Imagine and Learnin a store near!
