Glass Water Bottle from ReuseIt.com

As I have mentioned in prior posts, we like to do what we can in our home to help the planet. We do our best to recycle items and reuse them in any way we can.
Lately I have become a BIG drinker of the water.
Not sure why.
All of a sudden I just decided I like water.
Yes, this is a good thing.
Since I spend a lot of time around a computer, I do not like to have glasses or other open containers for I fear I will spill and fry my precious computer.
That would be bad.
Really, really bad.
So, in an effort to protect my computer and help the planet, I have started using a glass water bottle to safeguard my computer and be the vessel that delivers the water that keeps me well hydrated throughout the day!
It’s glass with purple bubbles and circles and it is oh so pretty!
I LOVE this water bottle!

The great thing about this bottle is that it is BPA-free, free of phthalates, PVC, lean and polycarbonate and it doesn’t leave you with that nasty metallic taste in your mouth.

The glass water bottle features a wide mouth for ice and easy cleaning.  It also offers a 360 degree lid that allows you to drink it anywhere along the plastic cap with a quick and simple twist and you can control the flow of water depending on how much you twist the cap.

Now I am shopping for water bottles for the whole family and the great thing is that Reuseit.com also carries kid friendly ones!

What kind of water bottle do you use?

Disclosure: I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Cancel The Mold with Tilex

As much as most of us hate to admit it, our homes all have mold in them.
Yes, it is the truth.
Your house….has mold in it somewhere, most likely your bathroom.
Our bathroom is a breeding ground for mold because I have kids who LOVE to take steaming hot showers and not turn the fan on, have a landlord who uses cheap paint and we have a fan that seems to have zero effect on the room.  Things also tend to get worse in the winter in our bathroom as well since living in Wisconsin doesn’t allow us to have a window open when the shower is going.
So yes, our bathroom is moldy.
Here is the proof.

This is our main bathroom and that is the mold that takes up residence throughout the week which is than sprayed with bleach to kill it every weekend only to have it return throughout the next week.
I recently stopped using the bleach solution we have and replaced it with Tilex® Mold Stain & Mildew Stain Remover. We are now now on our 5th day of having used the Tilex and I am happy to report that the mold has not returned!
I have also started using the Tilex Mold Stain & Mildew Stain Remover in other areas as well. I have found that it works great to clean the accordion like edging/seal on our refrigerator that seems to be the home of some interesting science projects and it removed all the gunky build up around the faucet and drain in the bathroom sinks too!

Since we don’t have the time to clean our bathroom daily, we have started to give the shower walls and tub a quick spray after the last person showers every morning and I have started treating the areas in which we experience common mold and mildew growth every other day in order to combat it and keep it from returning.

So far, we are quite happy with the results!

Tilex is currently hosting an awesome sweepstakes, the Tilex Cancel the Mold Show in Your Bathroom, with some pretty cool prizes like three 40 inch flat screen TV’s, and 10 Netflix subscriptions.  You can enter to win between now and 03/16/2012, just CLICK HERE to enter!

Also, be sure to check out the Sonny Mold & Frankie Mildew show to learn more about keeping this unwanted guests from taking up residence in your bathroom!!

Know Your Number

As we are getting closer to the dream of finally being homeowners, I have been keeping an eye on our credit report to make sure nothing bad happens.  I began monitoring our credit report two years ago when we started paying off debt and have enjoyed watching our scores rise….slowly…but in the right direction.  Monitoring our credit has been a great tool for us because it has allowed us to educate ourselves on how credit scores are calculated and how the whole system works.  By monitoring I have been able to raise our scores across the board by informing different bureaus that they were not reporting on a ‘good’ account.

We have invested a lot of time and money into repairing our credit which is why it is so important to us that we continue to monitor it.  After paying off the bad debt at the beginning of last year, we enlisted the help of a local company to help us clean up our credit as well…..another reason that I monitor it so closely.  I like receiving an email whenever something new is reported to any of the bureaus and love it even more when I am notified that a score has increased!

What do you do to keep your credit in check?  Do you know how you can get your free credit score?

Studying Up

I have spent countless hours over the last few months reading about buying a home.  I have read about HUD homes, FHA loans,  interest rates, financing, Mortgage Refinance Rates, how to buy a foreclosure, how not to become house poor and more. Shoot….I even read about VA loan rates just because the info was there!

I find myself constantly searching on Google for more info to fill my crazy brain with.  The way  I see it, the more I know the easier it will be to understand what we are doing and how we are going to get through the crazy, emotional mess that is buying a house.  Yes, I said crazy…..I have yet to find someone who has had their entire home buying process go off without a hitch.

I’m just preparing myself early.  I want to make sure that I know what to expect.

Now I just need to go back to sitting and waiting to hear back from our mortgage dude and see where we stand.

Again, please keep your fingers crossed that we will be shopping for a house SOON!!!!
