My First #JBFMilwaukee Experience & Why You Need to Go (Sept 21st-27th)

*This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Just Between Friends of Milwaukee.  This program is in partnership with Real Mom Media.  All opinions are my own*

Yesterday morning, Libby and I made our way down to Milwaukee for the Just Between Friends consignment sale. This was a first for both of us and I think we are both still in shock over the size of this sale.

 #JBFMilwaukee Fall 2014 Overview

The amount of clothing, alone, is overwhelming.  Racks and racks of maternity, costumes, girls and boys clothing and all of the sizes, it is absolutely crazy and EXTREMELY well organized.

There were more than enough toys to go around and of course, toys were organized in different sections for babies, girls, boys, Disney, Action Figures and so much more!

There was a sea of strollers, high chairs, boosters, bouncy seats and more.  Really, I don’t think there is anything you couldn’t find on your shopping list while sticking to your budget.

Check out this great video, put together by Maureen from Wisconsin Mommy to give you an idea of everything available.

My goal was to make sure that I got the #BestDeal on some winter gear for the little ones.  All 3 littles needed new boots, Joey needed a jacket that would fit now and another to get him through the rest of winter, along with snowpants as well as a few more fleece sleepers.

Here are a few things we picked up:  a pirate costume for Joey ($5), 3 fleece Carters sleepers ($5), a Big Chill winter jacket ($8) and Columbia boys snow boots that retail between $59.99-$69.99 for $15!!!!

I am still in awe of how big this sale is and if I had been feeling better, I think I could have spent the entire day shopping to make sure the kids were set for the next year!

Bring the Fun of Guardians of the Galaxy Home with You!

The week before school started, my dear husband sold his soul to take Libby to see Guardians of the Galaxy.  How exactly did he do this, you ask?  He told me he would do the dishes (which he absolutely hates) for 1 week if I let them go to the movies one afternoon.  Normally, I wouldn’t have made such a big deal about him taking part of the day to see a movie but we were prepping for back-to-school and I had so much to do.  Of course, his offer…..I accepted it right away! (Don’t tell him…I would have let him go anyway!).

So, off to the movies they went.

Later that evening, Zack went to see it too.

Now here I sit, I still haven’t seen the movie but I have seen every Guardians of the Galaxy clip there is online and I can see why this move is such a success!  Seriously, have you seen the Dancing Groot video yet?  (Google it!)

Even though he hasn’t seen the movie yet, Alexander has been checking out the Guardians of the Galaxy toys every time we are at Walmart, and with 5 kids, you can bet we are there….a lot.  He’s wanted a Star-Lord figure since a friend of his showed him one and he really, really wants the Star-Lord Battle Gear Set.  Thankfully, Walmart has a large supply of GOTG toys, so he is working his way towards getting one.  If he can make it through the first month of school and remain ‘on green’, he gets to pick out a new toy!

A few weeks ago, my friend Lisa and her family went on a road trip to Myrtle Beach and Lisa took her trusty friend Star-Lord with her. Alexander loved seeing her updates like Star-Lord driving, checking out traffic, and enjoying some time at the beach.

Alexander may be crazy about Star-Lord but me, I would like to get my hands on a dancing Groot to keep me company while I work!

I’m looking forward to seeing how Alexander does at school over the next month and very hopeful we will be doing some Guardians of the Galaxy shopping at Walmart.com, the place for all of your GOTG toy needs!

Have you seen Guardians of the Galaxy yet?  Who is your favorite character from the movie?

Don’t Wait for the Ice Cream Man, Grab a Cold Treat from Walgreens

Food is something that has always brought my family together.  We love to enjoy meals together, try new things and most days, end our dinners with dessert.  Dessert in our home comes in a variety of forms but one of our favorite dessers is ice cream.

We like ice cream cones, ice cream bars, ice cream sandwiches, ice cream sundaes….really, we just like ice cream.

Ellie enjoying her first ice cream bar.

Ice cream is definitely something we enjoy and it has brought us some great memories.  A few months ago, when Alex returned to 3rd shift and we were finally able to enjoy dinner as a family again, we celebrated by creating monster sundaes.   That even was filled with fun and laughter and is a night that I will never forget.

Our Summer weather has finally arrived here in Wisconsin and we are experiencing some very warm and humid days. These are the days when the ice cream truck should be visiting our ‘hood on a regular basis but we have yet to see him.

The lack of the ice cream truck hasn’t kept us from enjoying some delicious treats!  We’ve been stocking up with some great Unilever ice cream treats from Walgreens.  From Klondike Bars to Popsicles, our freezer has been well stocked lately.

Not only do we enjoy frozen treats as a dessert, we also enjoy them as a reward or to cool off on a hot summer day.  Since the kids will be heading back to school on the 2nd, we will be celebrating with some ice cold Popsicle’s after!

What is your favorite frozen treat from Unilever?

Unleashing Her Inner Rock Star & Amping Up Her Style with TRESemmé

*This post is made possible by participating in a blog campaign by Global Influence on behalf of TRESemmé. I was compensated for this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This post may contain affiliate links.*

With the kids heading back-to-school next week and Libby entering her first year of high school, we made our way to the hair salon last week for her to get a new do just in time for school.

Libby is my creative child who isn’t afraid to be herself or express herself.  She’s the kid who doesn’t care what others think and does whatever makes her happy. (I wish I could be as brave as her).

Here she is, amping up her hairstyle for the new year…….looking a little bit like a rock star if you ask me.

Libby really wanted a new look that was going to allow her to express herself and I think she got just what she wanted.

She would have totally rocked the red carpet at the 2014 VMAs.  This year, Walmart and TRESemmé teamed up to create some great new looks and Libby is looking forward to trying a few of them out.

You can check out these great new looks from TRESemmé by visitng Walmart.com and find out how to recreate them.

Check Out the Orkin Fact or Fake App

*This post is brought to you by our friends at Orkin and PartnersHub.   I received a promotional item in order to facilitate this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This post may contain affiliate links.*

Now that Alexander is a certified bug catcher (Thank you Bugs! Bugs! Bugs! Class!!) he is all about learning more about bugs.  Bugs is NOT my most knowledgable topic (I rock at Bevery Hills 90210 & 80’s/90’s trivia though), so when he asks questions, and he asks A LOT of them, I turn to my friend, the Internet, in search of the answer.

Our internet searches have taught us a lot this summer but now Alexander has a new fun activity to do.  Our friends at Orkin, recently introduced up to their Orkin Fact or Fake quiz to test his knowledge.

Is it a Fact or is it Fake????

“Daddy longlegs are poisonous.”
“Mosquitoes prefer adults over children.”
“Ants can survive underwater.”

You can take the quiz and find out if what you know about bugs is fact or fake and be sure to watch every episode of Scientific Fact or Scientific Fake and find out the answers to these age-old bug myths.

Orkin uses the latest technology and unparalleled training to develop a treatment that’s right for your home and your needs. To learn more about pest control that’s based in science or to schedule an inspection, visit Orkin.com or call (844) 503-8251.
