Let’s face it, we all have skin problems at some point in our lives.  As a teenager, I developed acne issues and as the years passed, the acne went away and then I got pregnant with my first child.  Little did I know that with that pregnancy and each that followed, acne was the least of my worries.

I swear, when I was pregnant (every time), my skin hated me. Even my acne is gone, it leaves behind acne scabs and I thought it will go away completely after a few days but sadly, new pimples are just starting to appear and I hate it.  I did not get that beautiful glowing pregnancy skin, I got that OMG, what did you just put on me skin that is super sensitive and with each pregnancy, it got worse.  Now that I am officially done being pregnant and just over 9 months post partum, I thought my sensitivity issues would begin to subside but unfortunately they are still present.

Thanks to Walgreens and the Simple® Skin Care line, my face is singing a happy song!

10 Practical Debt Tips

Millions of adults are struggling as they try to keep up with their debt and interest payments. The problem is that many of these people incurred various debts, such as their home mortgage and credit cards, without fully understanding the terms associated with the loan, or unexpected circumstances arose. It is not until the bills start coming in, that they fully understand the repercussions of this debt. Below are ten practical debt tips to help you avoid getting in over your head.

  1. Think Before You Spend

Credit cards allow you to purchase almost anything you want, and can lead to excessive impulse spending. You may find yourself purchasing not only things you do not need, but things you cannot afford. To avoid this problem, leave your credit card at home and give yourself some time to think before making the purchase.

  1. Read the Terms and Conditions

Any time you enter into a new loan agreement or obtain a credit card, be sure to read all of the fine print found in the terms and conditions. If you find anything in these terms that you do not understand or do not agree with, contact your lender immediately. Remember you always have a cooling off period to change your mind.

  1. Never Pay Only the Minimum Payment

If you have a credit card, do not fall into the trap of only making the minimum payment each month. This will force you to pay more in interest and take you longer to pay off the debt. This often causes the never-ending cycle of debt. Instead, pay as much as you are able to each month.

  1. Set and Maintain a Household Budget

If you do not already have a household budget, now is the time to start one. This will help you track your spending habits and hold you accountable to only spending the money you have available in each category of your budget. In turn, you will have more money to pay off your debt.

  1. Keep Track of Changes in the Terms

Credit cards are famous for changing the terms of your loan with little notice. Be sure you look over your bill every month and check to make sure your credit limit and interest rate has remained the same. Feel free to contact your credit card company and ask them to explain any changes you found.

  1. Reduce Number of Credit Cards

If you currently have more than one credit card, you have too many. To get control of your debt, it is a good idea to limit your credit cards to just one.  Select the one with the lowest interest rate and then contact that credit card company and ask them to set a reasonable credit limit that you can stick with.

  1. Beware of No-Interest Loans

No-interest loans sound like the perfect solutions to purchasing the items you need, such as electronics and furniture, and pay later. Since they charge no interest, it seems like a no-risk loan. The problem is that if you do not repay the loan with in the no-interest timeframe, you will be charged interest and typically at a very high interest rate.

  1. Set Up an Emergency Fund

If you do not already have an emergency savings fund, you should start setting back a little bit of money with each pay cheque to start one. These extra funds can then be used if you have a financial emergency. This can replace the need to use a credit card, and instead of paying interest, you can start receiving interest.

  1. Talk to Lenders when Having Trouble Paying Bills

If you are struggling financially and having trouble keeping up with all of your bills, it is important that you are proactive. Contact your lenders right away and explain your situation. Most companies have a hardship office that will be willing to work with you. This can avoid costly late fees and a bad score on your credit report.

  1. Seek Financial Advice

It is always recommended that you see advice from a financial counselor before entering into a new loan agreement. The counselor can review the details of your loan and explain all the terms and conditions to you. He/she may also be able to help you find viable alternative to taking out a loan.

These practical debt tips can prevent you from falling into the never-ending debt cycle. The most important thing is that you take control of your finances and educate yourself about debt financing and alternatives. Also, never be afraid to seek out help if you start struggling, there are many great resources that can help you get out and stay out of debt permanently.

Tips to Help Seniors Avoid Identity Theft

*This is a guest post*

Identity theft has become a major problem today and it effective people from all walks of life. Seniors, however, seem to be particularly at risk because many of these scammers try their best to confuse the seniors and trick them into giving them their personal information. The problem is that if the wrong person gains access to your personal information, this can wreak havoc on your finances and your life. If you are a senior, it is extremely important that you understand the dangers of identity theft and know how to avoid being scammed.

What Information Are Identity Thieves After?

Identity thieves are after as much of your personal information as they can find, including your name, address, phone number, work information, and of course banking information. They will then use this information to open up fraudulent bank accounts, obtain a passport, or they may even engage in illegal activity using your name and information. These thieves will go to great lengths to try to obtain this information including calling your home and pretending to be your bank, go through your mail, and even search through your garbage can.

Tips for Avoiding Identity Theft

The good news is that there are steps you can take to protect your identity and avoid the risk of someone else using your identity. Below is a look at some of the best ways to avoid identity theft.

***Never give out your personal information over the phone or to someone who come to your home. For example, if someone calls your home and claims to be from you banking institution and ask for any of your personal information, never give it to them. Instead, hang up and either call your local branch office or go to the bank yourself. Tell them that someone contact you by phone claiming to be them. The bank will be able to let you know if this was actually the bank or a scam.

***Never carry more personal information in your purse or wallet than you need. All other important documents should be kept at home in a locked box or in a safe deposit box at the bank.

***Always shred any mail or documents that contain any of your personal information before throwing it out in the trash.

***If you are not typically home when the mail is delivered, consider purchasing a home mailbox with a lock on it. This will still allow the mail to be delivered to your home, but will prevent anyone else from sorting through your mail.

***Carefully check your bank statement each month and be on a look out for any purchases that you did not make. If you notice anything odd on your statement contact your bank immediately.

***It is also recommended that you request a copy of your credit report on an annual basis. This will tell you if any accounts and loans were opened up under your name without your approval.

***If you use your cell phone for banking purposes, be sure to set a passcode on your phone. This will prevent someone from getting into your personal account if you lose your phone. Also, be sure to report your phone as missing to your phone company as soon as possible.

***If you check do your banking from your home computer, including making online payments or checking your account balance, be sure to always log out of each website when you are finished.

***You should also be sure to install a high-quality anti-virus software on your computer to prevent unwanted hackers from obtaining your information.

What to Do if You Think Your Identity Has Been Stolen?

If you think that your information has been stolen, you must take action immediately. Depending on your specific situation, you may only have so many days to report the theft. So do not delay. If there is a problem with your bank or you notice charges to your account that you did not make, you should contact your financial institution immediately.

On the other hand, if you notice items listed on your credit report that do not belong to you, you must send an official letter to the credit reporting agencies explaining the problem. Be sure to include you contact information in the letter. In addition, you should also contact your local police department and explain the situation to them.  They will have the resources to help you with your problem.

Say #ThanksBaby this Mother’s Day with Pampers

This review was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Pampers. I was provided the featured product free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% mine.

I’m done having babies.

Wow.

I can officially say that.

After having 5, yes F.I.V.E. children, I am officially done and never have to worry about being pregnant or giving birth ever again.

I have come to the realization that each of these First Milestones I am watching Joey reach will be the last time I see a child of mine crawl for the first time, take their first steps and talk for the first time.

Being a mom has not always been an easy job but it has definitely being the best job I’ve ever had and I thank my children for giving me the chance to be their mom.

First off, I thank my Zack for making me a mom.  He is the one who gave me this role in life and I am forever changed because of him.  I have enjoyed watching him learn and grow over the last 15 years and my life wouldn’t be the same had he never come along.
