Ambulances, ER’s and IV’s – Oh my!

The title of this post describes the events that occurred in my life this past Thursday night.

After the Alex left for work Thursday night, I finished watching my show and decided it was time to head to my desk and get some work done.  About 10 minutes after sitting down at my desk, my stomach began to hurt in a very, very bad way.  I thought I just needed to use the bathroom, so I excused myself from a conversation on Gmail Chat with @Blm03 and off I went.

After that….things get a little blurry.

I went to the bathroom.

I got very warm and dizzy.

The right side of my face started to stuff up.

Then it got hard to breathe.

Then my entire right side kind of went limp.

It’s really hard to describe.

All of this happened while I was sitting on the toilet.

I know….such a beautiful picture to paint.

Next thing I know I smacked my head on the wall/window frame because I blacked out.

I was beyond dizzy and couldn’t focus my vision.

It was pretty damn scary.

I had Zack call my dad and have my dad call 911 and get over to my house.

I knew something wasn’t right.

From there, I went to a stretcher into an ambulance. (Can’t wait to get that bill!)

I was having such a hard time breathing that I needed oxygen and my blood pressure was really low.

Once I got to the hospital I went through a series of tests and bloodwork.

It was soooo much fun.

I got an IV to administer fluids and some meds.

About 4 hours later, I finally got to leave.

Diagnosis….intestinal bleed and bowel infection.

NOT FUN.

I would not wish this on anyone.

Little did I know that I had been passing blood in my stools (EWWWW!!!!)

This is what led to my blood pressure dropping…or so I’ve been told.

So, now I sit at home taking some lovely antibiotics to fight the infection.

I am happy to report that I am starting to feel A LOT better!!!

Thanks to everyone who checked in with me on Facebook and Twitter after Zack reported his mom was in the hospital.

XOXO

Spring is upon us

This post brought to you by Pier 1. All opinions are 100% mine.

Since we moved into this house 3.5 years ago, I’ve always wanted to do something with our deck and entertain guests.

Well, we’ve entertained guests, however I never did anything special with the deck except throw an old hand me down patio table and folding chairs on it in addition to our grill.

For at least 2 Summers, it was also covered in outdoor children’s toys.

I’m hoping that when we do buy a house and I have a great backyard with fabulous entertaining space that I ACTUALLY take advantage of it this time!

I’ve already started perusing through  Pier 1‘s newest catalog and have stumbled across a few things I would like and it has given me some ideas on what I want to do when the time arrives.

I would love, love, LOVE to have this Sunset Pier Outdoor Deluxe Settee and matching chair.

In addition to quite a few other things!

Shh….don’t tell the Alex about my plans!

The great thing is that both of these can be used indoors too which makes it worth the investment! (That should make it easier to sell the idea to the hubby!)

I’ve also been dying to have a papasan chair again and Pier 1 has their iconic Pier 1 Papasan available in Spring colors!

I’ve even signed up for the Pier 1 Outdoor newsletter so I receive a special in-store offer for the weekend of March 18th-20th!

You know me, I always like a good deal!

Pier 1 will also be hosting some Pier 1 Tweetups once again!

Orlando – March 9th

Dallas – March 22nd

Atalanta – April 5th

NYC – April 20th

If you are in the area, check it out you never know what they might have planned for you!

Open Letter #12

Dear Man Who Let Me Get Away Years Ago,
After months of not hearing from you other than the totally out of the blue text message here and there, I am glad that when you needed someone to talk to that you reached out to me.
I answered.
I listened.
I listened.
And…
I listened.

I listened when you came over and told me all about having to call the cops on your girlfriend for hitting you.

I listened to you tell me about how she was arrested.

I sat there and listened to it all.

Shit.

I even gave you some advice.

AND…

I EVEN FELT SORRY FOR YOU…..

for a second.

I told you that you need to get her out of YOUR house.

You proceeded to let her stay.

Obviously you are still together since you have gone silent with me once again.

If you are going to keep letting this psycho hose beast control your life and who you are and are not allowed to talk to then do NOT look to me for advice again.

Thank you.
