Each summer, there are certain things that I require my children to do. They each need to enroll in at least one summer school class, participate in a summer activity, stay up late and do goofy things, and read at least 2 books, if not more!
I am a parent who constantly pushes my children to read because not only is it something that I enjoy doing, but my sweet Libby struggled with learning to read now that she is a pro, I want to make sure she continues to excel.
Reading is an important skill that unfortunately, many people never learn. If it wasn’t for books and the ability to read I don’t think I would ever make time for myself as it is my favorite thing to do when I am not working, cleaning, or spending time with the family. Books have always given me a place to escape to and characters to love.
Knowing that I have passed my love of reading on to my children makes me happy and I am glad that it is something we can do as a family as well. When the Hunger Games craze started, both Zack and Libby read the books followed by the Alex and myself. Reading those books brought us all closer together and we were able to enjoy them and see the movie together on opening day!
Have you ever considered a reading tutor for your child? You can locate a reading tutor in San Francisco all the way to Green Bay thanks to the world wide web!
What do you do to help further you child’s education during the summer?
