Guest Post
Sorry folks, I’m not here today. I am busy being interviewed over at MommyPage. In my absence, I am delighted to welcome Shreya from MommyPage.com as guest blogger.
We’ve just launched a new site, MommyPage, to bring expecting moms, new moms and veteran moms a single source to all of the deals, coupons and savings opportunities offered online!
Our goal at MommyPage is to scour the internet to find and consolidate the latest free samples, coupons and special offers from some of the best name brands that moms like us love! When the brands we love most aren’t offering something special – we have a team of moms that reach out to those companies to encourage them to offer something great to our MommyPage Turners! MommyPage currently has found and posted offers such as VTech Kids, Kellogg’s, ThredUp, Baby Talk and American Baby!
Beyond our offers and deals, MommyPage helps all moms navigate their way through parenting. Our community of moms share stories on buying maternity clothing, healthy eating for two, baby behavior, first day at preschool and more! Being a mom is about managing a home and lifestyle. With our tips on parenting and access to savings – we hope to help moms make parenthood a successful adventure!
We hope that you allow us to join you in your adventure in parenting! Visit our Mommy Page today.

Kim, thanks for guest posting for me!
(I had an even better intro typed yesterday but lost it and am not pleased, so I am sorry it is so short!)
I am a weather nerd. Give me a storm or a tornado and I will stay glued to coverage like it’s the Super Bowl. I am friends with our local weatherman and if I’m not home I RECORD THE WEATHER FORECAST. Yes, I’m a complete meteorlogical goob. My dream gadget is a Davis Weather Machine thingy, but alas I now only have a Radio Shack weather radio to get my fix with.
I’m also one of those idiots that would love to chase a tornado.
The dumbass standing in the surf when a hurricane is coming? Me.
The girl who walks in the rain instead of running? <<<<
The person who has hurricane season highlighted on the calender? Me.
The person that slows down in front of you in traffic to take a picture of a cool looking cloud? Yea, that’s me too.
I have a whole folder on my iMac dedicated to the weather. I refuse to watch the Weather Channel because they started a feud with THE GREATEST METEOROLOGIST OF ALL TIME,James Spann. They are dead to me.
Here’s the thing though…I am a bad weather MAGNET !!
I was brought on by barometric pressure, I kid you not. I was about three weeks early because Hurricane Camille came ashore while my mom was pregnant and the subsequent drop in barometric pressure put her in labor.
When I was about 3 or 4 a freak snowstorm dropped a foot of snow at my house. In Houston, Texas.
I grew up in Singapore and went through many a monsoon.
I’ve been in a plane that was struck by lightning and went down to one engine. We had to make an emergency landing in the Phillipines with the foam and everything.
My parents used to have a condo on South Padre Island. Yea. Hurricane Barry.
One year while on Spring Break we left for Florida, and by the time we got there a late winter storm had unexpectedly rolled in and produced the lowest temps in Fort Walton Beach in 70 years !
I had front row tickets to see Def Leppard when I was in college…. the concert was canceled….wanna know why? Hurricane Florence.
In 2004 I was at my parents house the day before Thanksgiving. My mom got me out of bed 30 seconds before an F3 tornado tore our house in half and deposited my bed, my laptop and all of my clothes on an island across the lake from their house.
2005? I lived in South Mississippi. Hurricane Katrina anyone?
And now it is the week of my birth. Tropical Storm Ana is moving in as I type, and Hurricane Bill (my dad’s name) is churning across the Atlantic.
Might I suggest if the weather gets bad, you get the hell away from me.
You’ve been warned.

Note from Anne: Today’s post comes to you from my good friend Maria aka @boredmommy who blogs over at Mommy Maria. Diets Suck.
They just do. I dare you to find one person who thinks otherwise. Craptastic is a word that I think sums them up quite nicely. Unfortunately, this is not the first time in my life that I’ve had to go on a diet. I’ve tried many, from the obscenely low calorie to the more sensible, but over time, I always reverted back to my old habits. I think a major reason for this was that I never incorporated an exercise routine as well. Oh, did I forget to mention:
Exercise sucks the big one too.
I haven’t decided which I dislike more, but I will let you know when I do.
Anyway, so as you may know, I entered a “contest” to become the Mamavation Mom, and I actually won. I won? Well, how the hell did that happen? I have no idea would be the best answer. I suppose I’m proof that harassing people enough really gets results. So now, I’m looking for different results – the ones that really need to happen for me to get my old self back; because frankly, my old self really hates my new self. Why?
* Old self misses shopping
* Old self misses socializing
* Old self misses being super smiley
* Old self really, really misses shopping (did I say that already?)
Now, I’m trying out a new approach with thanks to the Bookieboo team and Mamavation – a balanced diet and regular exercise. It’s going well so far and I hope it continues to. But, I’ll be honest, I still hate the exercise. People keep telling me that I will learn to love it – not sure why these people insist on lying to me. Why does exercise suck you ask (do you really need to ask?)
* Exercise requires you to actually move your fat ass off the couch.
* Exercise makes you sweaty.
* Exercise makes you feel all your jigglies move – nothing worse.
* Exercise is NOT FUN.
And yet, I’m doing it. I’m trying to do it everyday, and minus a couple of blips here and there, I have. For a hater – this is a huge accomplishment in itself.
So what am I missing then? There are a few things:
* Diet Coke – Mommy misses you D.C.
* Starbucks – If their stock value goes down, you’ll know why.
* White Bread
* PASTA – damn you pasta for not being categorized as a vegetable
* CAKE, Cookies, Chocolate … you know, the GOOD stuff.
I sound like a big baby, don’t I? I guess it’s the sucky characteristics of trying to be healthy that’s rubbing off on me. So forgive me, I promise that by the end of this process, I will be the BIGGEST cheerleader of diet and exercise. Actually, that’s probably unlikely to happen too. Do you know why? Because even when I get to my goal weight, the fact will remain – diets suck, and nothing is ever going to change that.
