Family Movie Night

As you have all heard before, Tatertot is a huge fan of all of the Air Bud / Buddies movies.  Every time he sees a commercial for a new one all we hear about is how he wants it soooooo bad!

The latest movie in the Buddie’s series, Treasure Buddies, has arrived on Blu-ray and DVD. The 6th film in the Buddies franchise stars everyone’s favorite talking canine superstars Rosebud, B-Dawg, Budderball, Buddha and Mudbud, as the pup pack journeys to mysterious Egypt in search of the greatest treasure known to animalkind, the legendary Cat’s

Eye jewel, from the lost treasure of Cleocatra! Danger lurks around every secret sphinx, cryptic crypt and puzzling pyramid as Ubasti, a devious cat, schemes to possess the mystical jewel and use its powerful energy to rid the planet of all dogs! With help from new lovable friends Cammy, a baby camel – and a mischievous monkey named Babi – the gang and their new friends avoid booby traps, solve puzzles and explore a mysterious tomb in their most exciting and challenging adventure yet.

We sat down and watched this movie as a family earlier tonight and once again, Disney did not disappoint with the Buddies. Treasure Buddies is another adorable movie that sucks the little ones in with the dogs who ooze cuteness!

After the movie, we checked out the awesome bonus features, the little dude’s favorite was the “Roam” music video which made him dance and shake his little tush.

Plan a movie night with your family and enjoy Treasure Buddies along with these awesome recipes and activities!

Have you had one of those teachers who really made an impact on your life?
I did.
Here name was Mary Johnson and she was my 8th grade C.A. (Communication Arts) teacher. She was the one and only teacher who encouraged me to continue with my creative writing. I’m pretty sure if it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be writing this post right now.

In Dead Poets Society (one of my favorite flicks), Robin Williams inspires his students to think for themselves and live life to the fullest. This method of teaching is, of course, frowned upon by the faculty when an unexpected tragedy occurs.

The movie stars Robin Williams as Professor John Keating, Ethan Hawke as Todd Anderson and Robert Sean Leonard as Neil Perry. Oh, and if you watch the show The Good Wife, you will recognize a young Josh Charles (Will Gardner) as Knox Overstreet (he is in the clip below!) Tom Schulman won the Academy Award or Best Original Screenplay in 1989 for this film as well.

Here is a short clip from the film.

The Blu-ray is filled with awesome bonus features such as:
“Dead Poets: A Look Back” featuring interview footage with Director Peter Weir, Ethan Hawke, Robert Sean Leonard and many others; “Raw Takes;” “Master of Sound: Alan Splet” – interviews with David Lynch And Peter Weir; “Cinematography Master Class” – an intensive and inspirational lighting workshop with Cinematographer John Seale; “Audio Commentary” with Director Peter Weir, Cinematographer John Seale and Writer Tom Schulman; and the “Theatrical Trailer.”

I personally enjoyed watching the “Theatrical Trailer” again for the first time ever since the film came out when I was a mere 11 years old.

This is also a film that I was happy to introduce to my 2 older children (age almost 13 and just shy of 12). Both of the kids really enjoyed the movie and loved the message they took from it which as they summed it up was to think outside the box.

We gladly recommend this film for any home movie collection!

Last weekend I sat down with the family and watched Real Steel. The Hardworking Hubby and Zman had been dying to see it and the Tatertot will watch anything that has robots because to him a robot is equal to a Transformer and right now anything like that is super cool.

As for me, this movie stars Hugh Jackman…..need I say more?

Overall, the entire family really enjoyed this movie.

Here is a brief synopsis of the movie:

Set in the not-so-distant future where boxing has gone high-tech and 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots have taken over the ring, the film stars Hugh Jackman (X-Men franchise, Australia) as Charlie Kenton, Evangeline Lilly (TV’s Lost, The Hurt Locker) as Bailey Tallet, Dakota Goyo (Thor) as Max Kenton, Kevin Durand (I Am Number Four, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) as Ricky, and Anthony Mackie (The Adjustment Bureau, The Hurt Locker) as Finn.

I was actually really surprised by this movie and honestly did not expect it to be as good as it was! I thought that is was a great movie for the whole family to enjoy! What I really appreciated about the movie was that they showed how a father and son can mend a broken relationship when brought together by something that they both love to do. For me, that part really hit home and I think it had an affect on my 2 older children as well. The relationship between Charlie and ax was depicted quite well in the movie and was very believable.

After watching the movie, we checked out the bonus features. We really like watching the Building of the Bots and learning how they created each of them and brought them to life in addition to seeing how the actors interacted with the bots for the film.

Be sure to check out Real Steel on DVD & Blu-ray January 24th!
