This week has been pure hell in our home!
Earlier this week, I think it was Tuesday, Tatertot showed us that he is an escape artist!
No, he hasn’t escaped from the house (yet that is!)
He mastered the art of escaping from his crib.
Not only did the little bugger escape, he broke his crib in the process.
Who knew my little man was so tough?
He managed to shake the drop side of the crib so much that he completely stripped the screw that holds it together.
Needless to say, I was quite thankful that I had already put a twin bed in the boys room complete with new bedding just for him.
So, on Tuesday afternoon, the Hardworking Hubby and I finished taking apart the crib and removed it from his bedroom.
Once that was finished, I installed the necessary safety devices so he cannot access the closet and the drawers on his dresser in addition to driving to my sister’s house (20 minutes away) to pick up the much needed side rail for his bed.
When Tuesday evening rolled around I wasn’t quite sure how he would adjust to sleeping in his bed.
Little did I know that boy was going to give me quite the run for my money this week.
Tuesday night came and went and I ended up having the company of a 20 month old snuggled up next to me and fast asleep in my bed after watching a few episodes of The O.C. via Hulu.
Of course, this also meant that I was asleep before 11pm ( which for me is not cool!)
All that sleep for me turned into my waking up @ 20 minutes to 5 and waiting for the rest of the crew to wake up for the day.
Tatertot woke up shortly after 6 and that’s when I devised the perfect plan to get him to sleep in his big boy bed.
After sending the big kids on their way to school, I got the little man ready and we headed to the mall to hangout in the play area with some friends.
We played for almost 3 hours!
When we departed the mall, I could see the look of exhaustion on his face and was excited for what was to come.
Nap time!
He dozed off in the car and woke up momentarily when we got home.
Long enough for me to take his shoes off and put him in his bed for a nap.
This was a success as you can see in the pic below
He Sleeps

I did leave his door open enough so that he could exit the room after nap.
Which he did.
2 hours later he walked into the kitchen and said Hi Mama!
It was a glorious 2 hours.
I had hoped that he would go to bed just as easy that night.
It was a no go.
Again, he ended up in bed with me.
Watching The O.C. once again.
After 15 minutes, he was out cold once again.
So, I went to sleep.
On Wednesday, I put him in his bed for nap time.
After playing around for about half an hour, he crawled up into his bed and went to sleep.
Another victory for me.
Another 2 hour nap.
So here we were at 9pm last night, putting him in his bed to go to sleep.
We let him play for an hour.
Again, at 10 pm, he ended up in bed next to me.
Watching The O.C. once again…..15 minutes later out cold.
I don’t know, maybe the Cohen family just bores him enough or he really can’t stand Mischa Barton, but something about that show knocks the kid out!
Which brings us to nap time today.
We put him down for a nap.
He played for an hour.
He crawled into bed and
he passed out!
He’s been asleep for an hour now.
Here’s hoping he sleeps in his bed tonight!
Keep your fingers crossed!!!

  • LOL looks like he likes his bed for nap time. Do you put him in his bed once he falls asleep? We do that with Brittany and for the most part she sleeps through the night in her own bed. There are times she crawls out and sneaks in mine. Good Luck!

Hi, I’m over from Supermommy! This reminds me of a story my MIL tells us (every holiday) about my BIL (when he was 3). He used to sleepwalk and at 3am the neighbor would call and inform them that he was (again) naked on their front porch. lol. They eventually installed a safety latch at the tippy top of the front door.

lol. good luck! He looks so adorable and peacefully asleep!
